The album starts with power chords as "Temptation" warms us up. Stan's gravelly, authoritative voice can blow the treads off a tank any day and we're not disappointed here. But after that, "Love Don't Lie" shows he can be soft, and that powerful voice can demonstrate tenderness as well. The pace picks back up with "Primitive Lover," (hmm, what is THIS song about?) the mid-tempo "Hearts v. Heads," and the glib "Crank That Radio" before sliding into the synth/bass rocker "Gates of Paradise." "Do You Remember" is a man recalling his 'first time' and how he'll never forget the woman who made it special. "Take It Like a Man" goes dark as a man steps up to realize the relationship is over. "The Touch," his most well known song, appears near the end and seems a little out of place on a record that's mostly about the comings and goings of love.
