The band biography admits that comparisons with Iron Meiden are inevitable, and they are rather correct. ‘Whispers Of Death’ has a very mid 80s Maiden feel and sound to it, from David Bran’s soaring vocals to the galloping drums and twin guitar melodies of the likes of ‘Horsemen On the Horizon’ just scream Maiden, although they do, of course, sound pretty cool whilst they do it. The main drawback is that whilst Chaos Theory embrace the style of early 80s melodic metal, their songs fall a little short of those they would worship. Not by much, true, and when they get it right there’s a spark that won’t easily be extinguished, and as a result there really is a good album here that’s maybe a couple of tracks too long.
