Artist : Black Sabbath
Country : UK
Release : The Best Of Black Sabbath
Year : 2000
Genre : Hard Rock Heavy Metal
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

Formed in Birmingham in the late 1960s, Black Sabbath would rapidly ascend to become towering figures of the music they helped to invent: heavy metal. Blending powerful guitar riffs with a heavy rhythm section and lyrical themes of the occult, drugs and all things dark, Black Sabbath broke through in 1970 with their self-titled debut album and its hit single, "Paranoid". They then rode the crest of the wave of British metal that rose up in the 1970s, recording one classic track after another ("War Pigs", "Sweet Leaf", "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath") until lead singer Ozzy Osbournedeparted for a solo success in 1979. Throughout the 1980s and 1990s,their line-up went through numerous changes, to include at various points Deep Purple's Ian Gillan and Ronnie James Dio. The Best Of Black Sabbath is their most comprehensive greatest hits compilation to date. This 32-track, 2-CD set gathers all of the best-known songs from early Sabbath's now-classic line-up, while still finding space for a few live tracks and some later, post-Ozzy recordings ("Heaven And Hell", "Turn Up The Night" and "The Dark/Zero The Hero").The Best Of Black Sabbath is an essential introduction to some of the finest works of these rock pioneers.

Artist :       Brainstorm
Country :     Germany (Heidenheim)
Release :     Just Highs No Lows: 12 Years Of Persistence
Year :           2009
Genre :       Heavy Metal
File Type :   mp3 320

Info:

This is an interesting concept by Metal Blade. They've released a "2-disc" best-of collection by German power metal masters Brainstorm, but it's only available in MP3 format, not as a physical product.
Just Highs No Lows: 12 Years of Persistence features 24 songs from Brainstorm's Metal Blade career. There's nothing from Hungry or Unholy, but those albums weren't that great to begin with. In addition to the "hits" there are also eight rare songs to tempt those of us who already have the Brainstorm albums. They include live songs, b-sides, and songs that were previously exclusive to the Japanese market. Edguy did something similar with their Hall of Flames collection, and it worked out pretty well.

Artist : Dame Fortune
Country : USA
Release : The Secret Art
Year : 2009
Genre : Hard Rock
File Type : mp3 192

Info:

Los Angeles-based cult rockers Dame Fortune have returned with their third album, ‘The Secret Art’.
The band, made up of guitarist and vocalist David Blake, bassist and vocalist Jeff Wire, guitarist and vocalist Mike James and drummer and vocalist John Merritt, have taken their unique brand of “classic hard rock with a modern gothic edge” to a new level. If you miss the days when Zep and Aerosmith were gods, and find big hooks, sneering rock and roll attitude and slamming power chords practically orgasmic, then you will love this album!
Despite song titles such as ‘A Special Place’ suggesting this may be an emotional album, there is not a trace of a ballad on ‘The Secret Art’: this is dirty, sleazy, good old-fashioned rock n’ roll - any emotional aspects are well disguised by heavy guitars and a thundering rhythm section! Standout tracks are the impossibly catchy ‘Perpetual Emotion Machine’, sleazy ‘Santa Ana Blues’ and arena rock anthem ‘Hikikomori (Live As Though The Day Were Here)’. Special mention should also be made of the outstanding vocal performance on ‘Secret Rulers’.

Artist : Zandelle
Country : USA
Release : Shadows Of The Past
Year : 2011
Genre : Heavy Metal
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

Now for 15 years ZANDELLE from New York City play melodic Power Metal with striking high-pitched-vocals, decent keyboard-influences and many double bass-parts, which unites the European and the US-American sound harmonically. They were founded by singer George Tsalikis, after he left his predecessor-band Gothic Knights.
Already the most actual studio-album „Flames Of Rage“ was released through Pure Steel Records in 2009, with „Shadows Of The Past“ now there is a compilation, which has got four songs of the first, self-titled EP from 1996 and six songs of the 1998 released debut-album „Shadows Of Reality“, which are nearly impossible to get today. All of them are re-recorded. In addition to that with “Unleashed” (originally recorded for the in 2006 released “Vengeance Rising”-album, but never released before), “Scream My Name” (a brand new song) and the Whitesnake-cover “Bad Boys”, there are three bonus tracks on it. The second CD contains all tracks in the original versions from 1996 and 1998. In relation to newer outputs, which got a more European touch, on their first two outputs ZANDELLE sounded more US-American and also the keyboard-parts were more in the background. The production had a dryer sound than nowadays, but this wasn’t even changed really with the re-recordings.
A very interesting time-document, which proves, that also in the second half of the 90s there have been some bands, which played flawless, true Heavy Metal!

Artist : Kreator
Country : Germany
Release : Extreme Aggression
Year : 1989
Genre : Heavy Metal
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

The album title definately says it all. Kreator's 1989 release "Extreme Aggression" is super fast, super heavy, and of course super aggressive. I got this album over the weekend, and I really like it alot, it's so awesome. This is without a doubt one of Kreator's best albums ever, and it's already one of my favorite Kreator albums as well. This album truly has it all: Aggressive vocals, killer guitar riffs, awesome solos, lightning fast drums, what more could you ask for. Mille Petrozza's vocals are super aggressive and extremely awesome. Together he and Jorg Trzebiatowski deliver lots of great riffs and killer solos throughout. Rob Fioretti has got some really cool bass lines that are well heard, and Jurgen "Ventor" Reil's double bass drumming is lightning fast and will make your heart pound with sheer excitement.

Artist : Accuser
Country : Germany
Release : Taken By The Throat
Year : 1995
Genre : Heavy Metal
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

Founded in 1986, German Thrash-heads ACCUSSER became weighty players on the international scene with albums such as „Who Dominates Who“ (1989) or Repent (1992) and songs rife with both technical and compositional pyrotechnics.
Right from the beginning, the band established themselves as an original imprint amongs their American brethren from the San Francisco Bay Area as well as fellow countrymen Kreator and Destruction, a fact cemented not least because of collaborations with Testament-/Anthrax-producer Alex Perialis or Industrial-pioneers Die Krupps.
ACCUSSER became renowned for their highly energetic performances with capacities such as Motorhead, Paradise Lost and Overkill before it was time to spread out stylistically with Reflections“(1994) and „Taken by the Throat“(1995), both of which became more aggressive and groove-laden.

Artist : Icy Steel
Country : Italy
Release : As The Gods Command
Year : 2010
Genre : Heavy Metal
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

ICY STEEL are still a young and very fresh band, being originally formed in 2005, but they have already made it to the top acts of their mediterranean island Sardinia’s vital metal scene. Just as a few comrades from the motherland they have taken the road of epic to heroic sounds, having an approach to scandinavian history for the lyrics. But their mediterranean origins cannot be denied, especially during their very epic moments when they create a floating atmosphere or draw from the enchanting variety of melodies emerging from the progressive rock history of their home country.

Artist : Anthem
Country : Japan
Release : Gypsy Ways [Reissue]
Year : 1988
Genre : Heavy Metal
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

Anthem were one of a handful of Japanese bands with similar histories, that being a brief glimpse of worldwide fame due to the release of a few early albums outside Japan, followed by a lengthy career relegated to their homeland. Their early work (the only material reviewed here) was similar in style to countrymen Loudness or Earthshaker.
Disbanded since 1992, the group reformed in 2000 and released the novel Heavy Metal Anthem album, a reworking of some older Anthem tunes now featuring noted vocalist Graham Bonnet. Since then, original vocalist Eizo Sakamoto (who hadn't sung with the band since 1987) has returned to the group, and the band has prospered since.
Lord Of Earth And Heaven's Heir (2001)

Defenders Of The Crown (2003)

Eternal Empire (2008)

Raided Land (2013)

Artist : Human Fortress
Country : Germany
Release : Lord Of Earth And Heaven's Heir/Defenders Of The Crown/Eternal Empire/Raided Land
Year : 2001/2003/2008/2013
Genre : Heavy Metal
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

A German band with song titles such as "Defenders Of The Crown" and "Knights In Shining Armour" must be a power metal band, and sure enough that's what Human Fortress is, the sextet coming together in the late nineties originally named TimeZone. Epic power metal is the order of the day here, with few surprises but the usual high standards of well-constructed songs and fine vocals from Jioti Parcharidis, who keeps things in check with a clear, melodic voice. It's getting harder and harder for bands like this to come up with something new or innovative, and in that respect there's really nothing here that fans of the genre haven't heard countless times before (for example, the chorus of "Mortal's Sinful Wrath" sounds familiar almost to the point of plagiarism), but Human Fortress execute quite well indeed and certainly deserve a recommendation for Euro metal fans.

Artist : Vinnie Moore
Country : USA
Release : Time Odyssey
Year : 1988
Genre : Heavy Metal
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

"Time Odyssey" was Vinnie Moore's 1988 follow up to "Mind's Eye" and was released on the Squawk label (a division of PolyGram Records), which also released the amazing "Maximum Security" by Tony MacAlpine. This release ontinues the neo-classical metal backdrop of his first album, while keeping shred guitar fans happy with cuts like "Prelude/Into The Future" and "Race With Destiny". Moore pays homage to the Beatles and George Harrison on "Time Odyssey" with a wang bar enhanced version of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps". The piece "April Sky" is classically influenced as Moore takes notes and inspiration from Bach's "Air On A G String" and "Piano Concerto No. 5 (Second Movement). Keyboard player Jorden Rudes also contributes in the songwriting department on "Prelude", "Into The Future" and "Message In A Dream".
