Insomnium - Since The Day It All Came Down (2004)

Artist : Insomnium
Country : Finland
Release : Since The Day It All Came Down
Year : 2004
Genre : Heavy Metal
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

In this album, Insomnium have quite simply proved themselves to be the best Melodic Death Metal band out of Finland. This album will put your darkest emotions in a chokehold and will not let go. This is beautiful music for any lover of melodic Heavy Metal. Anyone who likes dark melodies should really enjoy this CD. There is not a bad song on it. Additionally, it's very different from most Melodic Death Metal. For those familiar with melodic Heavy Metal, fans of Opeth, Dark Tranquillity, Sentenced, or Rapture will like this band. I think this is one of the most underrated bands, and every Heavy Metal fan should give this a listen.

Insomnium - In The Halls Of Awaiting (2002)

Artist : Insomnium
Country : Finland
Release : In The Halls Of Awaiting
Year : 2002
Genre : Heavy Metal
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

Melodic death metal doesn't get much better than this. The sheer passion and intensity infused into the music and lyrics of Insomnium are what take them far beyond your typical angst-ridden "Cookie Monster vocal" band, and into...well, The Halls of Awaiting.
Every song on the CD is a work of art unto itself, and most appreciative death metal fans will be able to see the many subtle differences between them. The vocal style doesn't change much, and the overwhelmingly serious, despairing lyrics (which borrow more from doom metal than anything else) are growled out not with anger or malice, but with sorrow. The entire album is a moving expression of raw pain, a dark work of art on a rough musical canvas. Suffice it to say, "In the Halls of Awaiting" must be heard to be believed.

Insomnium - Above The Weeping World (2006)

Artist : Insomnium
Country : Finland
Release : Above The Weeping World
Year : 2006
Genre : Heavy Metal
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

While Insomnium still heavily relies on the melodic quality of earlier In Flames and blend it with strong vocals, they have toned down on the ever-present acoustic transitions that permeated their earlier material. They still play lots of acoustic guitars on this release, but they are all brief sections in the songs rather than huge, drawn-out passages. Add to this the powerful vocal performance of Niilo Sevanen.

Insomnium - Across The Dark (2009) [Limited Edition]

Artist :       Insomnium
Country :     Finland
Release :     Across The Dark [Limited Edition]
Year :           2009
Genre :       Heavy Metal
File Type :   mp3 320

Info:

Insomnium have always been in the Melodic Death camp but this, there latest release further defines there want to experiment with the melodic side of their music. The opening track 'Equivalence' begins with some very tranquil guitar and bass, the drums kick in and some soft whispering is heard as the programmed arrangements fade in and soon the guitars strike up. The opener leads directly into the second track (a personal favorite) 'Down With The Sun'.
The second track definitely has a slower paced tempo not unheard by various Doom Metal groups but the guitars keep a faster pace not unlike that of the 90's Melo Death bands utilized. It is truly difficult to place this in any specific Sub Genre but that is where the power of this album lies, it stands on its own rather then follow others foot steps. Moving on the third track picks up the pace with far more up tempo guitars and head bang worthy riffing. 'Where The Last Wave Broke' also is the first track to offer some clean vocals to add to the atmosphere of the chorus.
