Artist : Eldritch
Country : Italy
Release : El Nino [Reissue]
Year : 1998
Genre : Heavy Metal
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

The greater the success, the greater the demand for albums that are out of print. Italy's Melodic Techno Thrashers Eldritch are aware of this dilemma and have decided to re-release their successful 1998 album "El Niño", remastered and enhanced with six bonus tracks, among them a cover version of Yngwie Malmsteen's Dreaming , taken from the legendary "Rising Force" album. "El Niño" has to be pointed out because while listening to it, you notice the quintet developed significantly on it, musically as well as style-wise. Before this record, bands like Qüeensryche or Fates Warning were the main influence - on "El Niño", Metallica, Coroner and Annihilator influences are more prevalent.

Artist : Eldritch
Country : Italy
Release : Headquake [Reissue]
Year : 1997
Genre : Heavy Metal
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

Originally released in 1997, Headquake was the second full-length album from Italian progressive/power metal band Eldritch. This band always seems to be overlooked compared to bands like Labyrinth or Rhapsody, but they put out a series of really impressive releases, especially early on.

On Headquake, we hear the natural extension of the sound Eldritch introduced on 1995’s Seeds of Rage. It’s a great combination of technicality, melody and heaviness that is obviously influenced by the classic Fates Warning albums. The songs are progressive without being wanky and losing their metal edge, and Terence Holler’s high-pitched, powerful vocals somehow channel both Ray Adler and John Arch. It could stand to be a bit more melodic, but overall this is a very solid album.

Artist : Eldritch
Country : Italy
Release : Neighbourhell [Limited Edition]
Year : 2006
Genre : Heavy Metal
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

This is the second major label effort by this Italian band. They play thrash with a progressive touch and a little power metal in the mix, but there's really good, with strong guitar riffs, great solos and the lead singer is great too. Recommended if you like Cryonic Temple and Angra.

Artist : Eldritch
Country : Italy
Release : Portrait Of The Abyss Within [Limited Edition]
Year : 2004
Genre : Heavy Metal
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

For those of you like me who like their power metal actually heavy than this album is a sure bet. Eldritch hail from Italy and play melodic power/trash with a dash of prog more in vein of American and German metal. If you like bands like Symphorce, Tad Morose, Nevermore, Angel Dust, and Brainstorm this is right up your alley. This album is truely great with very memorable yet not too obvious hooks. Great guitar playing and vocals. The heavy and clear yet not overly polished production helps the songs reach their full potential. One of the best albums of the year no doubt! It's ashame Eldritch is so little known but I am glad I sought them out. A hidden gem that shouldn't be missed!

Artist : Eldritch
Country : Italy
Release : Reverse [Limited Edition]
Year : 2001
Genre : Heavy Metal
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

Reverse is an incredibly catchy hybrid that revolves around nu rock/metal, tech-thrash and industrial/electronica. The change in sound with respect to past work comes as a really big shock, despite the fact that Eldritch had always had a thing for extreme metal in their previous records, both in terms of overall sound (incredibly heavy guitars) and style (a serious twist for speed/thrash and their technical/prog leanings). With respect to the sound production, the newly adopted extreme metal hybrid prompts for an excellent sound production and Eldritch easily acquire the desired result for all rock instrumentation and the vocals, albeit some may find the sound of the rhythm guitars somewhat (I repeat, somewhat) “compressed”.

Artist : Eldritch
Country : Italy
Release : Seeds Of Rage [Reissue]
Year : 1995
Genre : Heavy Metal
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

Originally released in 1995, Seeds of Rage was the debut full-length album from Italian progressive/power metal band Eldritch. They’re one of the lesser-known bands in that scene compared to bands like Labyrinth or Rhapsody, but they put out a series of really impressive releases.

Like most bands entering the progressive metal arena in the early to mid-90s, Eldritch’s early sound owes a lot to Dream Theater and Fates Warning. It’s technical with lots of keys, but there’s also a hint of the power metal sounds that Angra and Stratovarius were pushing at the time. The songwriting isn’t as polished as later Eldritch releases, but you can hear the band’s talent and potential in tracks like “Chains,” “Ultimate Solution” and “Blind Promise.” Even in the beginning Terence Holler’s vocals stand out.

Artist : Nightmare
Country : France
Release : Cosmovision [Reissue]
Year : 2001
Genre : Heavy Metal
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

Sixteen years after the release of their second album, French Power Metal band Nightmare, released their third album, Cosmovision,
The songs aren't very long, but with 12 (maybe 11) tracks, you get your money's worth. This isn't prog-like metal. This is fantasy-ish. What I'm trying to say by that is that the album is a story about some lines with ancient South American cultures. Its very interesting to read what they printed in the lyric booklet.
There isn't a keyboardist, but trust me - you will be taken to another dimension if you listen to this beast of an album at night, especially the title track. The vocalist is awesome and has a SOMEWHAT scratchy voice, but the choirs make you forget about him every once and a while. There is 1 verse sung with a female vocalist. The guitar riffs are very well done. Speed? Average, for the most part. One song is quite fast. The drums are VERY much like on Manowar's "Warriors of the World" (the whole album), AND so is the overall tempo. The fastest song is near the end and there aren't any really fast songs until then.

Artist : Salem Mass
Country : USA
Release : Witch Burning [Remastered]
Year : 1971
Genre : Rock
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

This is a pretty good, forgotten (assuming people knew about them in the first place) early hard rock group, with a heavy emphasis on keyboards, and a lead singer with a piercing scream. The musicianship is better than average, and the song-writing is solid. Aside from the demonic title track and one or two other numbers, the album is relatively soft and melodic. Fans of Uriah Heep, Deep Purple, Spooky Tooth, and the Crazy World of Arthur Brown would probably like this. This is no great lost hard rock classic, but fans of the genre and historians might want to check it out.

Artist : Saliva
Country : USA
Release : Cinco Diablo
Year : 2008
Genre : Heavy Metal
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

Saliva was one of the bands that raised the nu-metal trend and put it on its feet. Every Six Seconds was a great album that featured songs with Limp Bizkit style rapping, while also trying to feature an alternative sound. Back Into Your System went further into that, while also containing their takes on sounds of bands such as Nickelback and Lynyrd Skynyrd, and is also my favorite of the first four albums. Survival of the Sickest had more of a classic rock flair than Back Into Your System, and is their most aggressive recording to date, but as good as this album is, it's certainly nothing like BITS. Blood Stained Love Story achieved more of a radio-friendly pop sound to it, with some aggression included.

Artist : The Cult
Country : UK
Release : Rare Cult: The Demo Sessions
Year : 2002
Genre : Hard Rock
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

Five more reels that were found by guitar-guru-soulman Billy Duffy after the main Box Set was released are found here. There are 77 tracks from '86 to '91 that are basic, rudimentary outlines of some killer songs. What I love about this set is it's a deeper look into the awesome duo of Astbury/Duffy. The first set is a collection of songs done around the time of the Manor sessions, before the Cult teamed up with Rick Rubin. The Second Set was recorded during the Sonic Temple period while the Third Set consists of Ceremony tunes in the making. All these songs are found elsewhere in The Cult universe, but these tracks have a voice of their own. Any Cult fan who wants a microscopic view of The Cult during these energetic, spiritual and chaotic times in a classic Rock n Roll band, will truly appreciate this.

Power folk metal from Argentina. Which band springs to mind? Skiltron of course. And what do you know, two of the current members of Triddana used to play in Skiltron. No wonder that the music is somewhat similar. ‘The power and the will’ is the band’s second full album, but only the first to be released in Europe.
