Info:

Fourth album for Attacker, following 2004's comeback "Soul Taker". Its predecessor was a bit of a grower and quite different from the band's 80s output, but "The Unknown" marks more of a return to form, borrowing more heavily from the band's 80s style and also taking a bit from "Soul Taker", while practically dumping all power metal elements in favor of a more traditional heavy metal sound that nonetheless sounds fresh. You get heavier, crunchier guitars this time around, and I find the drum work more interesting as well. I even detect a hint of "Sleepy Hollow" (one of Bob Mitchell's early 90s ventures) here and there. One thing one immediately notices after one listen is that this album "rocks" more than "Soul Taker" did - that one had more of a mid-paced beat to it, while "The Unknown" rarely gives you much time to rest, save for a few quiet moments scattered here and there.
