Good Canadian band that released a selftitled album in 1990 and then this Transformers title later in the 90s. Transformers is a repackaging of the first album including 12 of the 13 tracks from the debut but with new artwork and liner notes. Very good songs throughout with the rhythm of "Simple Song" following a pattern similar to ZZ Top's "Tush". Melodic rock to hair metal style. Recommended.

The first complete retrospective of the band's 25-year career packed with 39 tracks including "I Want To Know What Love Is," "Hot Blooded," "Cold As Ice," and "Double Vision." Plus solo work and Spooky Tooth tracks.

Info:

MAD MARGRITT is a four-piece Rock band based out of Atlanta, Georgia. They released their debut CD "Cold Sweat" in October 1997 on their own record label, Rock Hard Records. Several radio stations across The United States and Europe began playing tracks from "Cold Sweat" and before long it caught the attention of Delinquent Records who offered the band a recording contract.

Andy Taylor (born Andrew Taylor 16 February 1961, Cullercoats, Tyne and Wear, England) is an English guitarist, singer, songwriter, and record producer, best known as a member of Duran Duran and The Power Station.
He has also recorded & performed as a solo artist, and served as a guitarist, songwriter and record producer for the likes of Duran Duran, Robert Palmer, Rod Stewart, The Almighty, Thunder, Love and Money, Mark Shaw, Then Jerico, C.C. Catch, Paul Rodgers (with The Law), Belinda Carlisle, Gun, Eric Robinson and many more.

You Won't Get Out Alive was a CD release from the band Waysted. It was released by Zoom Club in 1999.This is a live recording made in Cardiff many years ago. This is strictly for fans and those who like to listen to UFO covers. The band did have three members of UFO in it which explains the inclusion of the covers but they have been done better. The original tapes were obviously not the best and it shows.

Artist :       Lake
Country :     Germany
Release :     Voices
Year :           1985
Genre :       Hard Rock
File Type :   mp3 320

Info:

In 1985, following the No Time for Heroes album Lake released Voices, an album with even stronger song material than the 1984 album. Right away the opener "Alright", "More Than A Feeling" and "Echo Of The Melody" were actually potential chart busters, but no one cared to listen anymore. In 1986 Lake's last album was recorded, the Polydor release So What. Long time drummer Dieter Ahrendt left in the meantime and was replaced by Udo Dahmen. Jo Kappl also left, leaving the job on the bass guitar to Benjamin Hüllenkrämer. With this line up, So What brought some more great songs like "In The Midnight", the title song "So What" and one of Achim Oppermann's compositions, which was already performed by former Kajagoogoo lead singer Limahl, "Inside To Outside", a huge hit in many European charts. Apparently Lake ceased to exist by 1986/87. In 1992 James Hopkins-Harrison succumbed to an overdose of heroin.

There are 14 tracks on this album, everyone a standalone masterpiece and given new life and meaning by Cannata. This is very significant, as it normally does not turn out that way on cover or tribute albums. Keep in mind this man is multi-instrumental genius and producer so there is no flack here, its all straight up musicianship and creativity at its best even if the songs are older and have a long lineage of artists behind it. Actually, that is whole point here, to pay tribute to those people that made the music.
The best examples of covering a song closest to what the creator intended has to be the two Jethro Tull tracks, which come at you back-to-back, "Mother Goose" and "My Sunday Feeling." "Eight Miles High" and "On The Turning Away" are especially excellent as well. I also have to give Jeff the nod for his cover of Bowie's "Space Oddity" complete with the English accent in certain places during the song is a nice touch. I think one last important note to make is all the superb assistance Jeff received in creating this recording that is why I made a special effort to list the credits below.
So there you have it an album that has everything a music fan could possibly ask for. Don't waste another minute and grab this album!

Track Listing:
01 Peace To War
02 War To Peace
03 Flame
04 To A Friend
05 You Caught Me
06 Toca's Tale
07 Maybe, Diana
08 A Second Of Weakness
09 Thunderman
10 Carina

The Songs
The opening salvoes of 'Peace To War' which seques into its companion piece 'War To Peace' is primetime pomp. A great introduction to the band. It's like taking a walk back to the 'Silent Knight' era of Saga when you listen to the title track 'Flame'. Classic stuff. 'To A Friend' takes on a radio friendly spin, but the next 'You Caught Me' is a mish-mash of styles, the vocals a bit on the coarse side for my liking. 'Tocas Tale' is a return to a more appealing style of light pomp, not as full-on as 'War To Peace'. The tempo is raised for 'Maybe, Diana' - this track is full of string plucks and stinging guitar runs, with the occasional brass stab. Nice. Though 'A Second Of Weakness' is a ballad, the mid and solo sections are a standout. Apart from the keyboard and guitar solos, 'Thunderman' didn't move me a great deal. The closer 'Carina' is much better, bordering on 80's Swedish styled poppy AOR in the vein of Bad Habit, with tappy pianos and a raft of vocal choruses and the ever present guitars.

In Summary
The band released a follow-up two years later called 'Unlock Your Mind'. having not heard that album, critics say it is on a par with 'Flame', so no doubt I should be trying to lay my hands on a copy. For me, 'Flame' is an enjoyable record. The Saga comparisons are oh so obvious, though in some cases they lack the finesse which made their heroes a long term success story, but thats to be expected as there is only ONE Saga after all.. Still, when it's played this well, we'll forgive them their trespasses..

Jonah's solo work includes two solo albums, 1978's “Back Tracks” and 2001's "Mirrors and Windows" . Two albums with Breathless, for EMI America, "Breathless" (which featured the hits “Takin' It Back” (which charted in 1979), “Glued to the Radio”, and “Walk Right In”) and "Nobody Leaves This Song Alive" (which includes "Hearts in Hiding" and “Wild Weekend”). The Breathless greatest hits collection is available for download (Vinyl) and on CD from Line Level Music (Jonah Koslen and Breathless 1979 - 1981).

Between 1982 and 1984 with Jonah Koslen and the Heroes recorded two albums “Aces” and “Orange”

Artist : First Signal
Country : Canada
Release : First Signal
Year : 2010
Genre : Hard Rock
File Type : mp3 VBR

Info:

FIRST SIGNAL, a new exciting Melodic Rock studio project presenting the alliance between two well known faces in the scene: Canadian singer Harry Hess (ex Harem Scarem) and producer/bassist Dennis Ward (Pink Cream 69, Khymera etc.).
The concept behind this recording is to bring back the classic Harem Scarem sound which after the band decision to split is very much missed by many fans. Records such as “Mood Swings” and “Weight of the World” are regarded as true masterpiece albums and they were the inspiration behind the First Signal songs which of course are also open to some new twists and interpretations.” The record is very reminiscent of the songs I grew up listening to and fit my vocal style”, says Harry “It definitely reminds me of the songs we were writing very early on in Harem Scarem. I haven’t been involved with anything even close to this style musically since Harem Scarem, so it was a lot of fun for me and if the fans really
like it I’m sure there’ll be a future First Signal!”

Artist : Mercy
Country : USA
Release : Mercy
Year : 1993
Genre : Hard Rock
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

Line Up:
Lorraine Lewis sings, screams, talks, whispers, etc...
Erik Levy: Bass, drums, guitars, percussion and vocals

Produced by Erik Levy
Executive Producer: Elisa Elder
Engineered by Dave Hackbarth
Mixed by Erik and Dave
Digitally mastered by Doug Doyle at Digital Brothers
Drum programming by Craig Caruth
Michael Misluk: Guitar lead on PLF, Once Again, Tell Me and Shelter
Brad Bailey: Drum engineer and 12 string guitar on Travel

Femme Fatale fell apart shortly after returning from a British tour in 1989, and Lorraine Lewis appeared with the hard rock single "Chains" on the soundtrack of "Don't Tell Mom The Babysitter's Dead" (posted here). Erik Levy was the bassist with Blackeyed Susan ("Electric Rattlebone" posted here) and a multi-instrumentalist.
The duo became born-again Christians, resulting in a short-lived marriage and residence in Mobile, AL, and the release of this Mercy album on Broken Records. Mr. Levy proves to be quite a producer as the sound shimmers and the bass pulsates without being excessive; and, of course, Lorraine always sounds good.
Anyone wishing to relive the Femme Fatale and Blackeyed Susan hard rock experience is advised to ignore this release as the album is a complete departure from either of their previous works. It is predominantly CCM AOR with an atmospheric and sometimes slightly alternative feel. Recommended for those inclined to the AOR and softer music styles and, like me, those who are obsessed with all things Lorraine.
Lorraine moved to Seattle shortly after, and has since released a harder modern rock album, the 2000 selftitled "Snowball" (posted here), and a country-flavored pop/rock album, the 2002 selftitled "Lorraine Lewis" (posted here).
Suncity Records signed Femme Fatale in 2009 for the release of its unreleased album, Lady In Waiting. The album was written and recorded in 1988 (the single of the title track is posted here). Sadly, Femme Fatale guitarist Bill D'Angelo passed away following a heart attack in the autumn of 2005.
So, what is Lorraine doing now? She has relocated to Los Angeles the past few years and is in a band called L.A. Nookie, with Share Pedersen (ex-Vixen), Lisa Leveridge (ex-Courtney Love band Hole), Jeff Bowders (Paul Gilbert) and Alex Kane (LSD), which opened at The Key Club in support of Ratt for their "Infestation" album release party on April 20, 2010.

Band Members:
Kiki Rais- Lead Vocals, Guitar
Serge Kottelat- Guitar
Olivier Fluckiger- Bass
Felix Artho- Drums

This is the "budget reissue" of the only album released by this Swiss melodic rock quartet. Prior to changing their name to "Jade" around 1989, Rais, Kottelat and Artho were in a Swiss power metal band called "Sacrifice," who released one HTF vinyl LP in 1984 titled "On The Altar Of Rock"--> if anyone has this, PLEASE share. By 1991, the guys were clearly seeking greater commercial appeal, as "Precious & Wild," though containing some cool guitar sequences and solos, stays squarely in the realm of hard rock. Who do they sound like? Well, the vocals remind me of the Austrian band "Simple Service" and one reviewer on heavyharmonies.com heard similarity to Richie Blackmore. After listening, you guys could probably provide better comparisons than I....Enjoy and Keep Rockin'

Just think that vocals some time suck big time...but anyway...

Private Party

Headquartered up in Wisconsin - where they apparently enjoy a large fanbase even today - Bad Boy scored a two-album deal with United Artists in the late '70s and released two more LPs, several singles and an EP on assorted smaller labels over the next decade. Althought UA material is still missing action, "Best of Bad Boy" assembles tracks from the band's '80s releases, Private Party, Electric Eyes and Girl on the Run, along with two singles and two newly recorded tunes. Playing this disc opens a time capsule back to the days of long hair, spandex, block-long limos and leopard-print leotards. The silliness begins with three songs from '81: the Def Leppard-spotted "Run from Yourself," AC/DC-electric "Here I Am," and "Private Party," on which the Boys kick up a quiet little riot. Although lyrics like "Oh no! Run from yourself! Run! Run!" and "Come on baby/Don't say maybe!" aren't gonna cause Leiber-Stoller any sleepless nights, the terrific ascending power chords on the choruses - as well as the textbook-perfect artillery barrage drumming - will put a shimmy down the stiffest backbone. Four songs from 1984's "Electric Eyes" offer less bang: only the April Wine whine of "Something Ain't Right" shows much personality. The Boys are back in form though, on tracks culled from 1986's Girl on the Run: "She Can (Drive You Crazy)" is a Bon Jovial rave-up propelled by crashing power chords, lingering sustain and more of those amazing drums with just the right mix of boom and kerwhack (unforunately a lost art among the new crop of '90s heavy rock acts); "Girl on the Run" - which actually uses backward masking - delivers an evil laugh with a line about a "nice tight sweater." Those were the days, right? Apparently, these STILL are the days for Bad Boy, as testified by the new tunes, the funky "Sex Thang" and a Scorpions-styled styling called "Gotcha!". "Best of Bad Boy" makes this material available for the first time of CD. It's a shame Surgeland Records hasn't issued the dam thing on 8-Track tape. Somewhere, I'll bet, there's a Camaro Z/28 dashboard that's hungry for it. - Gregory Nicoll, Creative Loafing, October 31, 1998

Lovechild may have been around a few years prior to this debut but the years of practice doesn't show in the final product. Its professional enough with a decent production and mixing. The songwriting is the main issue which is a big one that needs to be dealt with if further discs are in their future. Lovechild's "Soul Collector" is a soupy mix of heady European rock that seems influenced by some American bands. There are strong whiffs of Lynch Mob and Badlands and a slight wafting of Rage for Order Queensryche drifting in. You will also pick up on tidbits of Lethal, Dokken and mid 909s Pretty Maids when they were a lil too modern for most tastes. Its a soupy mix that could potentially blend well. Here it does not as there are no risks taken and the band seems to sleep through the choruses and just scribbled some derivative copy to pass as hooks. It doesn't make the grade, especially when there are tons of other rock bands out there looking to claim their fare share of the steak. Lovechild isn't meaty enough to compete. They are buried in their own clichés and a seeming lack of creativity when they should be out for blood.
