Things
get off to a great start with the superb 'Never Hold Back', the chorus
and synth layers the highlights. Tim Feehan fans will enjoy 'Stand Up
For Love', the west-coast sounding arrangement a deadringer for any of
his successive work. 'I Like The Way I Feel' gallops along in typical
1982 fashion, while the ballad 'Not Enough Love' hauls in the reins, but
not for too long as the track 'On And On' perhaps demonstrates the
direction Taylor and his cohorts would take on future albums. A couple
of tracks don't quite hit the mark for me. 'Be My Baby' the sixties
cover originally sung by The Ronettes is full of eighties synth and
fluid guitar runs. Strange to hear it in this context. 'Just Like In The
Movies' is quirky, but the reggae synth work does its best to annoy.
'Under The Rug' rumbles along with a disjointed percussive back-beat as
its metronome. Usually I enjoy tempo changes but this track is all over
the place musically. The album didn't do a lot success wise, and was
quite hard to to obtain at the time of its release. As expected,
'Innermission' is still stuck in the land of the vinyl, and does not
appear on any re-release schedule.
