 Its quite a sad tale, when it comes to the musical career of Pam & Paula Mattioli.
They exploded onto the British rock scene in 1987 with the band Gypsy Queen, with their self-titled Debut album, produced by Jack (John Lennon, Aerosmith) Douglas (having been impressed by their demo tape).
They soon became the poster girls for rock magazines such as "Metal Hammer" & "Kerrang", but right from the start they tried prove themselves as a serious act, not just eye-candy.
Unfortunately that's were the twin's luck seemed to have run out. Their album was not critical well received, with the music having quite a polished sound to it (which was popular for rock acts in the 1980's). So Pam & Paula sacked & replaced the entire band, & dispensed with Jack Douglas production services.
Gypsy Queen mark 2 then tour extensively, which is when I saw them perform, with a much harder sound, only playing one ("Radio") of their old songs, the rest of the show consisting of completely new material.
Then a new single was released "Take care of yourself" & a new album "Out of Control" was scheduled for release.
But it never materialised, with Jack Douglas & ex-band member suing the Mattioli sister for breach of contract.
So faster forward to 1993 with a new band & name "Cellmates" the album "Between two Fires" was released.
