Caducity was formed way back in 1989 by Bert VanThuyne and Dirk Peirs, both are no longer active in Caducity. Soon the band was joined by the actual bass player Steven Suys. In 1992 Guy Nirion joined on vocals, and though the band had quite some trouble finding a suiting 2nd guitar player (using up quite some inadequate six stringers), they finally managed to do so in 1993 when Vinnie joined on 2nd guitars.

“Original Sin” contains all of the 7 tracks recorded for a planned independent album release before the guys were snatched up by Music For Nations who decided that it was best if the band went back in the studio to re-record some of the songs. The tracks included here are quite different in places and definitely more unpolished sounding then those that ended up on “Young And Crazy”. One track that didn’t make the final cut for YAC is the excellent “Now You’re On Your Own” which is also to be found on the Steevi Jaimz compilation “Damned If Do… Damned If I Don’t” released a couple of years back.
Finishing of the CD are 3 songs-2 originals and a glammed up cover of the Cheap Trick classic “I Want You To Want Me”- from a 1987 demo session that once more show Steevi’s talent for writing a memorable tune. A completely and utterly essential release for any fan of 80’s glam!

Crunchy Hard Rock with some Metal influences, so basically my thing, no? Yes and no in the end. The quartet tries its best not to be thrown together with the countless Melodic Rock bands, as they for one do not have a single ballad and for the other have quite some steam in the guitars and also the rhythm section, which in combination with the powerful vocals of Mr Alfonzetti stirs up a quite good mixture.

A few of you may remember Jet Red, a California pop-rock band that released one self-titled album back in 1989 on Relativity Records. What many may not know is that Jet Red recorded a second album back in the day that was shelved when the grunge tide kicked hair-metal to the curb. With a renewed interest in the teased-haired bands from the '80s that second album has finally been given a proper release.
Flight Plan picks up where the 1989 debut left off, mixing hard rockers with syrupy melodic numbers for a relatively safe yet entertaining listen. The problem with Jet Red's debut was a slick production and the fact that the keyboards often took over the songs resulting in a watered down AOR sound. That dilemma still rears its ugly head on Flight Plan, but isn't as pronounced. This long lost recording better captures the energy of the band's live shows and displays a slightly heavier and more authentic sound.

I seem to remember Swingin' Thing as being a mediocre glam band, but there is nothing mediocre about this release. Either I had misjudged the band several years ago, or they matured in the time between their self-titled EP and shortening their name to The Things. This collection is comprised of the group's unreleased second album Things That Swing and eight bonus tracks, for a whopping seventeen tunes in total.
I was shocked at how much vocalist Paul E. Bardot sounds like Rhino Bucket's Georg Dolivo at times, while the rest of the band mixes the sleaze of Roxx Gang with the fun pop-metal of Warrant.
