Originally released in 1985, Twitch was the third album from Canadian singer/guitarist/keyboardist Aldo Nova. Nova is best known for his self-titled 1982 debut (and the hit single "Fantasy"), but the overlooked Twitch may just be his best work overall.

Release : Nova's Dream
Year : 1996
Genre : Hard Rock
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

Aldo Nova is somewhat of a conundrum. To listen to one of his records you instantly know that this man has a gift most musicians can only dream of. However, just when fame nad recognition on a wider scale is up for grabs he disappears from view, content with other people using his work and talents - most notably Celine Dion. Nova's Dream is a very personal introspective work, as was an earlier album Subject. Whislt not aimed at the commercial market, this album demonstrates the influences on Nova's music, and as is assured with this guy there are some great tracks.

Release Title : Subject
Release Year : 1983
Artist Genre : Hard Rock
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

After the huge success of his self-titled debut album, Aldo Nova defied his record company, which basically wanted a carbon copy for his sophomore follow-up, and made a very loose concept album touching on themes such as dreams, imagination, and paradise. Subject...Aldo Nova still featured hooks and melodies galore (and an emphasis on keyboards and synthesizers), but the format was different. Perhaps this style curve confused listeners, and as a result, Subject...Aldo Nova sold far fewer copies than its predecessor and only went gold. (Nova also claimed Portrait didn't promote the album properly.)

Release Title : Aldo Nova [Japan Edition]
Release Year : 1982
Artist Genre : Hard Rock
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

Canadian rock singer/songwriter Aldo Nova doesn't get enough credit (some cynics would say blame) for helping invent the 1980s pop-metal genre, which focused equally on hard rocking anthems and soaring power ballads. Aldo Nova appeared in 1982 complete with irresistible melodies and choruses, explosive guitar licks, and huge-sounding drums. It was a full year or more before Def Leppard, Night Ranger, Bon Jovi, and others would latch on to this formula and rocket to stardom. Nova wrote, produced, arranged, and performed his double-platinum debut album by himself, except for drums and some bass guitar and piano parts. Nova is quite proficient on guitar, but his secret weapon is his keyboard and synthesizer prowess. The hit single (and early MTV favorite) "Fantasy" cannot be denied; it's loaded with guitar and keyboard hooks as well as a catchy chorus. "Foolin' Yourself" has a more straightforward pop feel and it was a minor hit. "Ball and Chain" is the best-known power ballad on Aldo Nova, but the hypnotic "You're My Love" is better. "Hot Love" is propelled by several guitar solo bursts. "Heart to Heart" and "See the Light" are fast, energetic songs with crisp guitar riffs and swirling synthesizer lines. Aldo Nova is a minor classic.

Release Year : 1991
Artist Genre : Hard Rock

Info:

For those of you who are Aldo Nova fans, this is a great collection. For those of you who are not familiar with Aldo, this is the CD to get. It covers all of his biggest tracks and only a handful of great ones are missing in action.

While Fantasy put Aldo on the map back in the early 80's, this unbelievably talented songwriter/singer/guitarist/bassist/keyboard player/drummer kept on pumping out great tunes like Monkey On Your Back, All Night Long, Lay Your Love on Me and Rumours of You (all included). While none of his Blood on the Bricks material or recent release, Nova's Dream, is on this album, it is well worth picking up.

Release Title : Blood On The Bricks [Japan Edition]
Release Year : 1991
Artist Genre : Hard Rock
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

After a six-year absence, pop-metal pioneer Aldo Nova released Blood on the Bricks in 1991. His self-imposed exile occurred after his unhappiness with 1985's Twitch. It's a bit ironic that Nova, whose splendid self-titled 1982 debut album and single "Fantasy" were hits, had to return with the help of Jon Bon Jovi. Nova helped lay the foundation for the superbly crafted pop-metal sound that Bon Jovi rode to superstardom. Bon Jovi and Nova co-produced the album and co-wrote eight of the ten songs. Blood on the Bricks was also issued on Bon Jovi's vanity label, Jambco, part of Mercury. Unfortunately, the album is generally overproduced and noisy and most of the choruses are shout-along affairs. When Nova produced himself, the songs had rumbling power, but there was a smoothness to them. Nova plays the guitars and virtually all the keyboards and is assisted by the likes of respected bass guitarist Randy Jackson and drummer Kenny Aronoff. "Blood on the Bricks" has a relentless, catchy groove but the lyrics starkly examine a gang fight.
