The album title definately says it all. Kreator's 1989 release
"Extreme Aggression" is super fast, super heavy, and of course super
aggressive. I got this album over the weekend, and I really like it
alot, it's so awesome. This is without a doubt one of Kreator's best
albums ever, and it's already one of my favorite Kreator albums as well.
This album truly has it all: Aggressive vocals, killer guitar riffs,
awesome solos, lightning fast drums, what more could you ask for. Mille
Petrozza's vocals are super aggressive and extremely awesome. Together
he and Jorg Trzebiatowski deliver lots of great riffs and killer solos
throughout. Rob Fioretti has got some really cool bass lines that are
well heard, and Jurgen "Ventor" Reil's double bass drumming is lightning
fast and will make your heart pound with sheer excitement.

Of all the underground European thrash outfits who helped pioneer
death metal during the '80s -- bands like Hellhammer, Sodom,
Destruction, and Bathory -- Kreator arguably holds up the best over time
(with the possible exception of Celtic Frost). Where many of their
peers made an impression solely through manic intensity, Kreator became
increasingly able to bolster their harsh fury with progressive
compositions and tight, technically accomplished musicianship. The
band's most influential period, 1985-1992, is captured on Past Life
Trauma, a fan-selected, 18-track best-of that features two rarities and
two previously unreleased tracks. Featuring most of Kreator's best
material from the '80s and early '90s, it's the perfect introduction to
the influential thrashers' output, and it's been digitally remastered to
boot.

Kreator have three basic eras in their impressive discography: 80's
hyper-thrash; 90's raw metal savagery & experimentation; and the
return-to-thrash era of the 21st century. When vocalist/guitarist Mille
Petrozza & his gang put out their first album in '85 he was only 18
years old, which explains the youthful, energetic approach of their
first five studio disks. When the 90s hit and grunge was king,
hyper-thrash was no longer in vogue. So Mille & crew, now maturer
and more seasoned, took to branching out with their primal brand of
metal, but not in the order of Metallica's LOAD albums (or even THE
BLACK ALBUM), just less thrashy, more raw, more traditional, with a
streak of experimentation.
