TRACKLIST:Artist : Northern Insomnia Project Country : Finland Release : First Cut Is The Deepest Year : 2013 Genre : Heavy Metal File Type : mp3 VBR Info: Northern Insomnia Project delivers a completely diverse sounding metal release
with “First Cut is the Deepest.” I personally like consistency when it comes to my Metal
music, but I understand that this project was trying to capture different styles of Metal by
using multiple vocalists. Listeners are given the opportunity to hear five distinctive
sounding metal tracks and take away the elements that they find most enjoyable on this
EP. I recommend this album to those who enjoy uplifting well written Heavy Metal with a
diverse sounding quality that changes from song to song.

From the beginning of his career Vaughn, the Tyketto & former
Waysted vocalist, had always been the token acoustic guitar player who
added a little extra flavour to the sound of the bands with which he was
involved. The idea for Standing Alone came about following a UK tour
which saw Vaughn taking to the stage alone every night to play a song
acoustically. Such was the reception that these interludes received that
soon after he invested in some home recording equipment and Standing
Alone began to take shape. As Vaughn states: "The idea was to see how
some songs from my near and not-so-near past would sound reinterpreted".
And the result is nothing short of spectacular. Emotional and honest
Standing Alone is the sound of vocal and guitar working together at
their best, the simplicity of the arrangements proving just how good
Vaughn's songs truly are.

Abel Ganz have been together for nearly 20 years, but had been away
from the scene for some time. The band were formed in 1980 by Hugh
Carter and Hew Montgomery. Influenced by such bands as Yes, Genesis,
Pink Floyd and ELP, the writing of material headed in the direction of a
‘progressive rock style’!

If you love .38 Special (which I'm sure you probably do if you're
reading this), then this CD will not disappoint you at all. Sure, as
previously mentioned, not ALL of their great songs are represented here,
but the ones that they do are done very well. When I purchased this
right here on Amazon.com, I was a little concerned since it had been so
many years since I heard these boys play live, but on first listen my
worries were totally disspelled. Don Barnes's voice, although it has
clearly aged a bit (he doesn't hit most of the higher notes he used to
reach, plus he doesn't sing lead as often on here) is still in fine
shape, and Donnie Van Zant still has that great bloozy Van Zant voice.
(You know what ah'm talkin' 'bout!)
TRACKLIST:Artist : Amorphis Country : Finland Release : Elegy [Reissue] Year : 1996 Genre : Heavy Metal File Type : mp3 320 Info:
The songs are metal-driven yet somewhat peaceful and melodic. One
thing I think is quite amazing is their use of 2 vocalists, one vocalist
uses standard deep death metal growls, while the other one has more a
Layne Staley (Alice in Chains) type of voice. The instrumental skill of
this band is also quite amazing, from the guitars, drums, and harmonious
keyboading this CD will blow your mind, it is a must get.

Pretty Boy Floyd have often been accused of being style over
substance, and that was during their late '80s peak! Fast forward a
decade in the colorful Pretty Boy Floyd story and you would find the
arrival of glam veteran Lesli Sanders, who became one of the bassists in
the band's revolving door line-up. Today Sanders is promoting a new
band called The Prophets Of Addiction -- a band that has a hint of his
old partner's image, but a much different sound.
TRACKLIST:Artist : Grendel Country : Finland Release : A Change Through Destruction Year : 2008 Genre : Heavy Metal File Type : mp3 320 Info:
The Finnish band Grendel has released their latest album A Change
Through Destruction. These guys describe themselves as a melodic death
metal band, but I absolutely don’t agree with that. Want to know why?
The album starts off with 'One Desire', a speedy
melodic death song which immediately catches the attention. Up next is
the more down tempo 'A Change Through Destruction' which on its own is a
pretty good track, but because of the slower drums, the introduction of
the clean vocals, the prominence of the keyboards and a lot of
repetition of the chorus, feels like a cold shower after 'One Desire'.
Grendel
maintains down tempo during 'Dialog with Pain' and by the time the
first tunes of 'The Deaf Cult' come out of my speakers, I’m starting to
believe this is more of a doom band than a death metal band as they seem
to have misled me during the first track. 'The Deaf Cult' by the way is
definitely the girl song of the album, look at for instance the
following line of the lyrics: “No one hears you. There's no one to talk
to. No place to go now. There's no one to show you how.” Cute, don’t you
think? But it’s not just the lyrics that makes this song so sweet it’s
almost annoying; the slow, melodic guitar solo has a pretty big impact
on this view as well.
To my surprise 'Another Link in the Chain' and
'Trapped Inside' are more up tempo as well, which to me feels out of
place. I think it would be good for Grendel to decide which direction
they are heading and on a personal account, I would advise them to
concentrate on the slower songs, since this obviously is their stronger
side. Nice melodic riffs and amazing clean vocals make A Change Through
Destruction intense, despite the three tracks which shouldn’t have been
on this album.

TRACKLIST:Artist : Wardog Country : USA Release : Scorched Earth Year : 1996 Genre : Heavy Metal File Type : mp3 320 Info:
Wardog's new album, Scorched Earth has a certain heaviness to it, and
is definitely very much guitar-oriented. The title track, which comes
first on the album has a very Iron Maiden-sounding feel to it. Overall
the intricate, fast-alternating guitar riffs and the higher-pitched
vocals have a bit of an 80's flair. However, the music is definitely not
cheesy or wimpy at all. It is basically very well played uncompromising
classic metal. The guitar really stands out with excellent highly
technical pounding riffs and solos throughout the album and with an
excellent spanish guitar-influenced melodic acoustic passage injected
into the mix as well -- look for it in the middle of track 9, "Tomb Of
The Slain". The drumming is very potent and very effective as well, a
relentless, fast, rhythmic pounding that keeps you locked into the
album.
TRACKLIST:Artist : Sword Country : Canada Release : Metalized [Remastered] Year : 1986 Genre : Heavy Metal File Type : mp3 320 Info:
Sword was formed in Canada by brothers Mick Hughes (vocals) and Dan
Hughes (drums), guitarist Mike Plant, and bassist Mike Larock in early
1985. Signing with local Aquarius Records, the band cut its solid,
though hardly groundbreaking, debut Metalized in 1986. The band's sound
was a muscular brand of classic metal with tasteful riffs and solos by
Plant and infectious shout-along choruses. The band never made much
headway south of the border, however, and split up soon after recording
their sophomore album Sweet Dreams the following year.
* Classic metal comparable to Overkill, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest.

demos were made for early song ideas, though a second album was only in
the infancy stages. These demos have erroneously turned up as the
never-released second album, which was to be called New York Times,
though against the band's wishes or approval. The band broke up in April
1992 when Roxie returned to Los Angeles to become the guitarist for
Alice Cooper. Shane, Jonathan, and John returned a few years later, sans
guitarist Ryan Roxie who was replaced by Richard Tressan and with the
addition of John Ceparano, as The Loveless, releasing A Tale Of Gin And
Salvation in 1995.
The Electric Angels, again without Roxie, reunited in early 2000 for a one-off radio appearance on WDHA's The Tour Bus.

Angels was a Los Angeles-based band that formed from the defunct pop
group Candy featuring new singer Shane, guitarist Ryan Roxie, and
original Candy members bassist/songwriter Jonathan Daniel, and drummer
John Schubert. After one year, the band relocated to New York City and
were signed to Atlantic Records within five months. One of their first
New York shows was opening up for the British band Dogs D'Amour and
Mother Love Bone, which soon became Pearl Jam. Their self-titled debut
was recorded in London in the autumn of 1989 by David Bowie and T.Rex
producer Tony Visconti and released in February 1990. They were reviewed
favorably as a cross between The Replacements and Hanoi Rocks. The band
let their contract with Atlantic expire in 1991 due to poor promotion
on the part of the label.

After being dumped across the country by his former band mates in
Metallica, Dave Mustaine was, understandably, pretty angry After all, he
had the most writing credits on the band's first album and Metallica
was doing exceedingly well in the metal underground. Oh and he was stuck
in New York. He vowed to get revenge on his ex-band mates (somehow),
and as luck would have it, Dave found himself a new band. The band was
to be called Megadeth and which eventually included Chris Poland on
guitars, David Ellefson on bass guitar, and Gar Samuelson on drums. 1985
rolled around and Megadeth released its debut album, Killing is My
Business... Poor production qualities plagued the record, but it was
fairly successful none the less. Fast-forward some 17 years and here we
have Dave Mustaine, agreeing to fix the mistakes of the band's past and
remastering the album.

Helix is a Canadian hard rock/heavy metal band. They formed in 1974,
and are best known for their 1984 single "Rock You." The original lineup
was formed by drummer Bruce Arnold, and consisted of lead vocalist
Brian Vollmer, guitarists Ron Watson and Rick "Minstrel" Trembley,
keyboardist Don Simmons, and bassist Keith "Bert" Zurbrigg. Their most
well known lineup, however, and the one that recorded "Rock You", was
the 80s version of the band: Vollmer on vocals, accompanied by
guitarists Brent "The Doctor" Doerner and Paul Hackman, bassist Daryl
Gray, and drummer Greg "Fritz" Hinz. The history of the band has been
marked by many lineup changes, with Vollmer being the sole constant
member and only remaining member of the original lineup. Although
guitarist Paul Hackman was killed in a tour bus accident in 1992, the
surviving members of the 80s lineup reunited in 2009 for an album and
continue to tour in 2011.
TRACKLIST:Artist : Amorphis Country : Finland Release : Skyforger Year : 2009 Genre : Heavy Metal File Type : mp3 320 Info:
I have been a long time fan of Amorphis since the early Death Metal
days. I knew there was something very different about the band when I
first heard Tales From The Thousand Lakes. I have watched Amorphis
slowly grow artistically and prove that there is more to Heavy Metal
than shock value and screaming. I was very excited when I heard that
Amorphis was goig to release Skyforger as I have been more and more
impressed with every album since the early '90s. I'm very pleased to say
this is by far the best album I've heard in the last decade at least,
maybe longer. I put the CD in my player and listened from beginning to
end without skipping a single track. If I had to pick two favorites they
would be Highest Star (I never thought a flute would fit with metal so
perfectly) and Course Of Fate (It just rocks there's no other way to
explain it). If you've never heard Amorphis before this is an AMAZING
example of what Progressive Death & Folk Metal should be. Beautiful
melody, raw power, real feeling, and pure love of music.
TRACKLIST:Artist : 38 Special Country : UK Release : Wild-Eyed Southern Boys Year : 1981 Genre : Hard Rock File Type : mp3 320 Info:
38 Special never quite made it on their southern rock roots, despite
having a lead singer name Van Zant, as in Donnie, younger brother of
Lynyrd Skynyrd vocalist Ronnie.
The band regrouped and shifted away
from a more traditional country rock sound and plugged in a tad more
distortion and became a hard rockin’ southern delight.
After a
smidgeon of success with 1980's Rockin’ into the Night, the band
released Wild-Eyed Southern Boys the following year and it went Top 20,
and sold Platinum. The next year Special Forces went Top 10 and sold
another million plus albums making 38 Special rock stars.
Now, BGO
Records has released a CD that has both classic albums on one disk. The
hits are all over this sucker including from Wild-Eyed Southern Boys
there is “Hold on Loosely,” the title track and “Fantasy Girl.” Special
Forces continues with “Caught Up in You,” “Chain Lightinin’ and “You
Keep Runnin’ Away.”
