Artist : Black Sabbath
Country : UK
Release : Sabbath Bloody Sabbath [Reissue]
Year : 1973
Genre : Heavy Metal
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

With its cover image, one would expect to be led into some dark, abysmal, terrifying journey. Flip to the back cover, and everything is serene and 'heavenly', yet all the same people are intact and present. ''What's going on here,'' you say? Are these people intrinsically evil or are they good? Is the hell image truly how things are, and the heaven is what it's supposed to be like? On the inside cover, which was gatefold, there was the image of the band (Iommi/Osbourne/Butler/Ward) guarding a bed, like on the front cover, like spirits, warding off some bad karma or energy. It was all very weird.

Artist : Mortal Sin
Country : Australia
Release : An Absence Of Faith
Year : 2007
Genre : Heavy Metal
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

To any metalhead who appreciates thrash, An Absence of Faith can wholely by understood and enjoyed, but, much like a fine microbrewed lager, Mortal Sin is savored much more succinctly when you have listened to their previous works when a reunion really wasn’t even a glimpse on the horizon. For me, being an undying thrash fanatic, An Absence of Faith isn’t the be all end all of modern thrash, but it is quite an achievement for a band that was once composed of relative youngsters, to come back as grown men, and compose a brand new set of songs that could have easily been transplanted from 1987 (which, for a thrash band, is about as good of a compliment as you can get).

Artist : Skullview
Country : USA
Release : Metalkill The World
Year : 2010
Genre : Heavy Metal
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

Their metal is free from all trends and sounds like coming from the glory days back in the Eighties. The guitars unleash barricades of searing riffs, the rhythm section is laying down a muscular backbone, and the vocalist has one of these testosterone fuelled voices that reminds of bands like Iced Earth and Omen. The songs are basically long, averaging six minutes, allowing the band to switch between hard hitting up-tempo parts and intense mid-tempo parts. The band’s faster side is best demonstrated on Defiance, Desperation, Defeat, with four minutes the shortest track on the album, while their slower material shows that they have also learned some lessons from doom metal bands like Trouble and Pentagram.

Artist :       Conception
Country :     Norway
Release :     Flow
Year :           1997
Genre :       Heavy Metal
File Type :   mp3 320

Info:

Perhaps the best overall summary of Flow is seamlessness. Never does each individual part fit together with the precision and grace as well as on this album. You'll instantly notice that the razor-sharp guitar distortion from In Your Multitude has become thicker but with a smoother, much less aggressive tone, like drinking honey mead rather than tequila or battery acid. Roy Khan brings possibly the most riveting vocal performance to date, lifting what was already great material to another level. The surprisingly mature songwriting, crisp production values, prodigious individual performances and emotional nuances . . . every single aspect is spot-on here. While the heavy, sharp edge heard in the previous two albums is dialed down a bit, the hook and groove element is more prevalent than ever, allowing the music to sink in easier and more quickly.

11. Gravity (Bonus Track)

Artist :       Conception
Country :     Norway
Release :     In Your Multitude [Japan Edition]
Year :           1995
Genre :       Heavy Metal
File Type :   mp3 320

Info:

Third album for the underrated Conception, and it is an expansion of their sound. In Your Multitude is the first record in which the progressive elements of this band are shown in full force. Having established themselves as a top band in the Progressive Power Metal genre, they deliver one of their strongest records ever.

Artist :       Conception
Country :     Norway
Release :     Parallel Minds
Year :           1993
Genre :       Heavy Metal
File Type :   mp3 320

Info:

Before the mighty Kamelot, there was Conception. Khan played with this amazing band in the 90's and they recorded four albums together. In Your Multitude is the best prog-metal Conception CD. However, in my opinion, Parallel Minds is their best pure metal CD. Two of their best songs are on here, "Roll The Fire" and the title track. The guitarist, Tore Ostby is playing on a level that very few guitarists ever reach. His blistering leads, icy-blue tone (reminiscent of Kirk Hammett's lead tone on Ride The Lightning) and incredible riffs combined with Khan's excellent singing make this a very memorable CD. The band is in absolute top form here. They have gone beyond the top of the mountain and into the stratosphere.

Artist :       Conception
Country :     Norway
Release :     The Last Sunset [Japan Edition]
Year :           1991
Genre :       Heavy Metal
File Type :   mp3 320

Info:

At first released as an indie-album, "The Last Sunset" ler to a contract with Berlin-based label Noise Records - more than deserved, because what CONCEPTION is offering us here is slightly progressive Melodic Metal of the highest level!

Borne by Roy Khan's unique voice and Tore Ostby's filigree, partly flamenco-influenced guitarwork the Norwegians are giving us a ride that you do not find often.

Artist : Mer Min

Artist :       Phantom Blue
Country :     USA
Release :     Phantom Blue
Year :           1989
Genre :       Hard Rock
File Type :   mp3 320

Info:

All-girl Metal band of some repute, PHANTOM BLUE certainly threw out the train of thought that all female Metal bands needed was to look good and the marketing men would do the rest. A Power Metal band, PHANTOM BLUE vocalist Gigi Hangach was once in the same Ohio based band as one John Oswald on drums, better known in more recent years as WARRANT front man Jani Lane.

Release : All Things Metal
Year : 2012
Genre : Heavy Metal
File Type : mp3 VBR

Info:

I wish that more veteran vocalists would do the same as Soren Adamsen of ARTILLERY for a group of local musicians that have been looking for an answer for the vocal section. The great service he provided to this young Danish band named SERPENT SAINTS is something that should be cherished and remembered. Via the French label of Emanes Metal Records, this Heavy / Speed Metal band released its debut album, "All Things Metal", with what seemed to me with a purpose to remind the world of the older flame of Heavy Metal in Denmark while creating a darkened layer of evil features as the heart of their material. However one thing is for sure and I am not discoursing the musicianship of the players in way, but probably without Adamsen's helping hand or vocal chords to that matter, this effort wouldn't have been that good.

Artist : Highway Killer
Country : Germany
Release : Highway Killer
Year : 2010
Genre : Heavy Metal
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

Very cool underground stuff in style of old Accept, Sinner, Tyran Pace and Noisehunter. Some of the songs were written in late 80s, but never released!

Artist : Gypsy Rose
Country : Sweden
Release : Another World
Year : 2008
Genre : Heavy Metal
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

First thing someone may notice is that the album is powerful. Be it straightforward rockers, 'neoclassical' cuts or more AOR-ish tunes, the production and the rhythm guitars/bass/drums lines are strong and solid. On the other hand, the keys 'support' the music in a rather applicable way, without being in front (in general), and will certainly reveal the band's origin. The leads of Martin Kronlund - the mastermind of the band - are impressive, flirting with resources from legends of the past, plus his riffs are a fine mix of melodic Rock style with metallic atmosphere. Efficiently enough, he does not fall in the trap of letting the keyboards in the foreground, avoiding the album sounding as another melodic Rock album.

Artist : Bangalore Choir
Country : USA
Release : Cadence
Year : 2010
Genre : Hard Rock
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

The album "Cadence" is from the first till the last note pure hard rock. Bangalore Choir is one of those bands (like Shakra and Bai Bang for example) what produces a constant stream of quality hard rock songs. Just listen to the opener "Power Trippin’", "Tomorrow" and "Heart Attack & Vine". These are heavier powerful songs with big choruses, great riffs and excellent hooks. But on such solid album you have always some songs that stand out more positive than the other. My favorites on this album are the melodic "Martyr", "Living Your Dreams Everyday" and "Surrender All Your Love".
