Ahh, i love this one! This classic Scorpions album has always been one
of my absolute favorites!I feel that this masterpiece has to be one of
the best hard rock albums that never got any credit and is extremely
underrated.
The Scorpions fifth studio album is the darkhorse effort
of their lofty back catalog of albums.Historically,this was the end of
the first phase in the Scorps carrer in that it was their last outing
with guitar wizard Ulrich Roth or better known as Uli Jon Roth.After
this,Ulrich was gone for good and the band singed to Mercury records and
started their string of commercial albums.This is the Scorpions at
their artistic and experimental peak, never again would they delve into
this kind of musical estacy displayed here.Uli Jon Roth must be heard to
be belived,his guitar playing is absolute heavenly!I tell you, this guy
could easily put Blackmore,Malmsteen, Van Halen or whoever to shame.The
whole band on this album is exellent,Rudolf,Meine,Uli and Francis are
firing on all cylinders.This is also the first album with Herman
Rarebell on drums and he really adds that kick in the pant's to the
rhythm section.The album is definatly one of the most
dark,moody,experimental things this band has ever attempted.

Uli and the Scorps really hit the nail on the head with this one!,
probably THE BEST 70's hardrock/metal album ever (tied with Taken By
Force, i love them both a lot)commited to wax, and i say this in the
face of Led Zepplins IV, Sabbath's Paranoid, Deep Purple's Machine Head,
any UFO or KISS album, it doesn't matter, Virgin Killer KILL'S THEM
ALL! The fourth album from the scorpions released in 1977 was their
first truely outstanding album, FLY TO THE RAINBOW and INTRANCE were
great, but THIS out-did everything before it (and arguabley since it).

Apart from the magical beast close to a dragon probably known to
Dungeons And Dragons players, the name 'WYVERN' has been used as band
name several times in the Metal realms. One of these is for the Italians
here, a band that started in the mid 80s with two demos back then and
their debut “The Red Flame Of Pain” being released in 1990 as an
independent LP. The album was very difficult to be found so Jolly Roger
Records decided to make a re-release in CD format and give a second
chance to these recordings.
