Artist : Kotipelto
Country : Finland
Release : Sleep Well
Year : 2007
Genre : Heavy Metal
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

Solo release, entitled "Serenity".. The freshness, class and melody of the material is just overwhelming and holds a very high level throughout the whole record, whilst also delivering all that a great Melodic Metal record needs! Fast and furious bangers like the great opener "Once Upon A Time" prepare the path for classic Hardrock tunes such as "Sleep Well" and the album closes superbly with the 8 minute long epic "Last Defender".

Artist : Kotipelto
Country : Finland
Release : Serenity
Year : 2007
Genre : Heavy Metal
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

To compare this with the first two Kotipelto albums, it's vastly better than the first which had too much of that 'hollow high end' sound to be truly enjoyableand the feel of the tunes are mor mid range and more connective. Production by Kotipelto himself and guitarist Tuomas Wainola is clean and clear without being too prissy and suits the albums mood. And it should be noted that Wainola is the only person other than Kotipelto to get a writing credit it should be noted. Other band members are Janne Wirman on keys, Lauri Porra on bass and drums courtesy of Mirka Rantonen.

Artist : Kotipelto
Country : Finland
Release : Reasons
Year : 2004
Genre : Heavy Metal
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

Timo Antero Kotipelto (born 15 March 1969 in Lappajarvi, Finland) is the vocalist of the Finnish power metal band Stratovarius and is the creator and vocalist of the power metal band Kotipelto. Kotipelto is currently the longest standing member of Stratovarius, after the departure of Timo Tolkki.

Artist : Kotipelto
Country : Finland
Release : Coldness [Japan Edition]
Year : 2004
Genre : Heavy Metal
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

In all actuality, both of Timo's solo albums are not extensions of Stratovarius (unintentionally or otherwise) and this is a very good thing. Like its predecessor, "Coldness" does not get bogged down in excessively long songs (like some recent Strato kind of does) and he makes much better use of his voice on his own projects by only singing in the upper reaches of his rather impressive range sparingly and then mostly in the background. In comparison to his first solo effort, this one is quite personal and a little bit dark, as evidenced by the beautiful cover art and photos inside.

Artist : Lynx
Country : Canada
Release : Sneak Attack
Year : 1978
Genre : Hard Rock
File Type : mp3 128

Info:

Canadian pomp rockers originally known as "Black Wheat"...thank God for the name change ;-)
Band for "Missing Lynx", Lynxs debut, is totally different, apart from Tony Caputo, who was the only original member for their last two albums.
"We Are The People" was reissued on CD by Canadian specialist label Unidisc, and is arguably their best album. In saying this "Sneak Attack" certainly has its moments.

Artist : Horizon's End
Country : Greece
Release : Concrete Sureal
Year : 2001
Genre : Heavy Metal
File Type : mp3 192

Info:

Horizon's End is one of the best Greek progressive/power metal band". Extreme melodic, lyrical progressive metal with influences from Fates Warning (Perfect Symmetry, Parallels session) and Leviathan (USA) with more symphonic touches from Flute, Cello, Violin, Clarinet. THIS IS THE MUST BUY FOR ALL PROGRESSIVE METAL FANS ALL OVER THE WORLD.

Artist : Hypocrisy
Country : Sweden
Release : Catch 22 [Japan Edition]
Year : 2008
Genre : Heavy Metal
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

This album has already become one of my favorites. Many consider it nu-metal influenced but it isn't IMO. I hate all this "nu metal" stuff, and I honestly like this CD. Sure, it's different than all the other Hypocrisy albums, but that's what makes them an exciting band. The songs are well written, and you can tell that they spent a lot of time on this one. Hypocrisy does what they want, and if they did what some of the "hardcore" fans always demand, then they wouldn't be free to do as they please.

Artist : Quiet Riot
Country : USA
Release : Guilty Pleasures
Year : 2001
Genre : Heavy Metal
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

Quiet Riot's "Guilty pleasures" from 2001, is an album that easily could have been released 15 years earlier according to the sound and musical approach. Quiet Riot don't seem to be bothered with having their feet deep in the past while they deliver party metal in the same vein as they did on "Condition critical". In the opening "Vicious circle" they use the same vocal approach (on the verse) like they did on "Sign of the times", and their "Rock the house" is clearly inspired by Quiet Riot's old musical inspiration Slade - just listen to the pre-chorus and you can easily hear echoes of "[Come] on feel the noise". The outstanding song on this rather even album is "Shadow of love" with its melodic and catchy chorus. Then you get a couple of (power) ballads in between the faster tracks, and the whole effort ends with a acoustic tune - "Fly too high". You won't find anything new or modern on this release - it's just a solid QR album in the old tradition.

Artist : Quiet Riot
Country : USA
Release : Live!In The 21st Century
Year : 2003
Genre : Heavy Metal
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

Quiet Riot broke out of LA's vibrant metal scene in 1983 with their crunching anthem Metal Health. Some 20 years later on Live! in the 21st Century, the group is still intact, and looking good for rockers in their mid 40's, fronted by the ever boisterous Kevin DuBrow, with colorful Rudy Sarzo on bass, and Frankie Banali bashing the drums. Guitarist Carlos Cavazo, who can still pass for an 80's version of The Monkees Mickey Dolenz, has lost none of his skills as a stringbender.

Artist : Quiet Riot
Country : USA
Release : Rehab
Year : 2006
Genre : Heavy Metal
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

Remember that band who made it big in 1983 with Metal Health?? well their back and better than ever. This cd is everything which quiet riot is, was and wants to be.. The cd is very diverse in styles. whether it be the heavy-modernlike "Free" or the zeppelinesque "south of heaven" the guitar. Frankie banalis drums are amazing on this cd, and are very heavy and john bonamesque.. Kevins Vocals are another amazing point on this disc. his voice is just as good as it was 20 years ago and he can belt out those tunes..

Artist : Quiet Riot
Country : USA
Release : Super Hits
Year : 2006
Genre : Heavy Metal
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

This may not be the most complete collection of Quiet Riot cuts since it's just 10 tracks long, but Super Hits is an enjoyable collection that should entertain those looking for an affordable blast of solid rock 'n roll from Quiet Riot. It's a fun intro for those who don't know the band.

Artist : Anubis Gate
Country : Denmark
Release : A Perfect Forever
Year : 2005
Genre : Heavy Metal
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

This album has unbelievably good songs and lyrics, the musicianship is first rate, and thankfully, they have a guitarist that doesn't really shred. What that means is that the guitarist actually thinks of tasteful things to say on the guitar. The voice... that voice... Torben is an incredible singer. A good midrange to upper mid range voice with tons of personality. That said, this is Torben's last effort with this band. The new singer, Jacob Hansen is a good singer, but has a super high, thinner voice, no grit or growl at any time. I far prefer Torben. "A Perfect Forever" is a perfect album!

Artist : Anubis Gate
Country : Denmark
Release : Andromeda Unchained
Year : 2007
Genre : Heavy Metal
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

A magnificent conceptual work that does not stand up under scrutiny, just have to relax on a couch and being carried away by the magic of this amazing music!
After Torben Askholm left the band, seems incredible the change of style that was to include Jacob Hansen as new member of Anubis Gate. Choirs and vocal arrangements are stunning!
And what about Kim Olesen ... his incredible talent and genius as a composer, keyboardist, guitarist, is reflected in all the album tracks.

Artist : Anubis Gate
Country : Denmark
Release : Purification
Year : 2004
Genre : Heavy Metal
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

This is their debut and while I do feel that their second album - A Perfect Forever is their magnus opus, Purification is still a damn great album. One of the main reasons that their second album is so much better is simply because of the production. The production on this album is good but the aural quality of their second is far superior.

Artist : Anubis Gate
Country : Denmark
Release : The Detached
Year : 2009
Genre : Heavy Metal
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

The music is certainly more intricate & creative than most, but they never seem to loose sight of the goal of creating enjoyable songs. Unlike some metal bands these days (*dragonforce*), they use heavy and complex rhythms, which makes the music more interesting for me. The guitars (both 6 string and 4 string variety) are important to me, since I play guitar myself. They are never dull, but at the same time never self-serving or obnoxious. It seems that the riffs were written to make great music, not feed the musicians' egos. The vocals are also very fitting and enjoyable, you'll find yourself singing along in no time. One final note about the sound: they make use of electronic sounds and times, which I think works well for them.

Artist : Pyramaze
Country : Denmark
Release : Melancholy Beast
Year : 2004
Genre : Heavy Metal
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

Pyramaze remind me of a more progressive and rock influenced version of STRATOVARIOUS meets KAMELOT but there is so much more in here. The diverse musical tastes of the band members come to life fully in these nine songs, sounds of the mighty IRON MAIDEN, and ICED EARTH ring through too. Michael Kammeyer has written a masterpiece.
Lance King's Vocals are the best ever and Morten Gade's (Wuthering Hights) Drumming is outstanding ! This album actually brings something new to the Prog-Power metal realms where things have gotten a bit stale as of late. "Melancholy Beast" is a wonderful display of how good progressive power metal can sound when performed by those who master the genre. Pyramaze is an oustanding Metal unit with a bright future. "Melancholy Beast" is an absolutely highly recommended Prog-Power Metal album, Lance's vocals cut through flesh and bone (as usual) perfectly in line with the piercing guitar riffs / solo's and the great sonic production of this album. Fantastic release, no doubt about it!

Artist : Primal Fear
Country : Germany
Release : Nuclear Fire
Year : 2000
Genre : Heavy Metal
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

Nuclear Fire kicks Painkillers ass up one side and down the other in my humble opinion. I highly suggest that you add Nuclear Fire to your metal collection imeadiately in fact I believe that you like me will soon add all of their stuff to your collection. My personal favorite is their sophomore release Jaws of Death, there is no jinx here, its a sign of there is a new kid on the block and we're gonna kick everyones ass!
