Artist : Infinite Horizon
Country : Germany
Release : Beyond Infinity
Year : 2001
Genre : Heavy Metal
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

Yet another killer German metal band. Why is it that all the good metal seems to be in Germany right now? Anyhow, Infinite Horizon are a perfect mix of power metal and progressive metal. They haven't forgotten what the HEAVY in Heavy Metal is for, yet they write epic, progressive and technical songs. As with most prog-metal bands, the lyrics are very poetic and imaginative with any conclusions being made left totally up to the listener. Several of the songs focus on spiritual issues, but as I said, pinning down exactly what they are trying to say is probably left to the listener. What is also impressive about this disc is the fact that it's completely independent, yet sounds as professional as anything on a label these days. Great job. Hopefully these guys will catch on and be able to crank out more killer tunes in the future.

Artist : Persuader
Country : Sweden
Release : When Eden Burns [Japan Edition]
Year : 2006
Genre : Heavy Metal
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

Persuader often experiments with heavy and melodic songs, while not betraying one or the other entirely on When Eden Burns. The first song, “Twisted Eyes,” is one of the defining moments of their sound. An amalgamation of the components for their sound, beauty and brutality both trade their positions in center stage over this five-minute show. This is not the only highlight in this album, as songs like “Sending You Back” and “When Eden Burns” emphasize both sides of the band’s musical talents. The melodies of “Slaves of Labour” and “Sending You Back” will make anyone who loves Power Metal sing along in joy, while the carnage residing in “When Eden Burns” is an example of the extremely heavy side of the band and Power Metal altogether.

Artist : Beyond Twilight
Country : Denmark
Release : Section X
Year : 2005
Genre : Heavy Metal
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

After nearly four long years, Beyond Twilight has emerged with a new album. Their previous disc The Devil's Hall of Fame with Jorn Lande on vocals was a stunning record, so it caused quite some stress when it was announced that Lande had left and was replaced by a new singer: American vocalist Kelly Sundown Carpenter from the band Outworld. If you were a fan of Lande's vocals in Beyond Twilight, worry not, Carpenter is an absolutely perfect fit for the position. The tone of his voice and his phrasing are highly similar to Lande's, which is great. There are moments on the album, unless you look in the CD booklet, you wouldn't know it's not Jorn Lande singing. Carpenter does an excellent job; he sings passionately and will easily convince everyone that he is the perfect choice.

Artist : Dragonsfire
Country : Germany
Release : Visions Of Fire
Year : 2008
Genre : Heavy Metal
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

Founded in 2005 Dragonsfire came up immediately with a live-set of more than 100 minutes and played many gigs in the same year. They also gave many Interviews and reached the finals of the Emergenza Band-contest in 2005 too.
In summer Dragonsfire went to the “Kohlekeller Studios“ to record their first 5-frack EP in a professional environment. The resulting CD called “Burning for Metal“ gave a first impression of the sound of the band and received good reviews in the media, e.g. “Metal Hammer“. The following shows during the next three years made the band well known in a larger area. Dragonsfire played festivals like the “Trebur Open Air“ or the “Summernight Open Air“ in Euskirchen and performed as supporting band for some well known acts like Rebellion, Mystic Prophecy, Wizard and Dezperadoz.
“Visions of Fire“ is now the second CD of the traditional Metal-Band from Hessen. 2008 the band went to the “Empire Studios“ to record an album that will fascinate the audience with its elaborate production and a well-done song writing. Nine diversified songs, full of Heavy Metal in Dragonsfire-style were the result. A fundamental sound and hook lines, that will .stay in your mind makes “Visions of fire“ a CD, which shows traditional Heavy Metal in a new and Individual way.

Artist : Fool's Game
Country : USA
Release : Reality Divine
Year : 2009
Genre : Heavy Metal
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

An all star project with members of Pharaoh, Manticora, Division & Redemption. This took a few listens to sink in, but eventually you hear the killer songwriting ideas. The music is melodic power/prog styling with intelligent lyrics (that actually includes some of Edgar Allan Poe's work). Just catchy stuff with a super rhythm section & lead fretwork from Matt Johnsen (Pharaoh)on guitar! If you are a fan of any of the above noted bands in all liklihood you will gravitate to this album.

Artist : Victory
Country : Germany
Release : Fuel To The Fire
Year : 2006
Genre : Heavy Metal
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

Victory has always been such a great band. It's usually a touchy thing when a band goes back and re-records from their own catalog, but this CD stands on its own. It's not better than the originals, which are already great, these are different yet just as great. There are subtle differences to the song arrangements here and there, but nothing too different. They didn't change the songs simply to change them. I don't think that ever works too well. They also found their third vocalist who again fits right in to what the band is about. Most people aren't aware of this band, but for those that are and like them, this is another one to add to your collection.

Artist : Fair Ground
Country : Canada
Release : Down In It
Year : 2006
Genre : Hard Rock
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

Pretty much a re-recording of Pete Lesperance's solo album, except they left off the best song from the solo effort 'Where You Want Me'. Odd. I think I prefer the production of the solo effort, a little more in your face. Great songs though as you would expect from Lesperance.

1st demo released from the quintet from Belgium, named after a historic province of Germany (nowadays part of the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia). The songs on this demo are a bit closer to hard rock than their 2nd and final EP, thus it's enjoyable... \m/

Artist : Judas Priest
Country : UK
Release : The Chosen Few
Year : 2011
Genre : Heavy Metal
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

Some of the biggest names of the hard rock/heavy metal world picked their favorite Judas Priest songs for the band's forthcoming compilation album, The Chosen Few (out October 11th via Legacy/Sony) – and the result is one of the more interesting Priest tracklistings ever put together.
Artists who took part in the 17-track strong The Chosen Few included Ozzy Osbourne, Slash, Metallica's James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich, Alice Cooper and Slipknot's Corey Taylor, among others.
"This is a collection of songs chosen by our friends and respected peers," Priest frontman Rob Halford tells Rolling Stone. "So we hope all the metal maniacs out there will rock out to the tunes enjoyed by metal legends."
Also included in the set are explanations from each artist about their selection, including Taylor gushing that Priest's early MTV anthem, "You've Got Another Thing Coming," caused the group to become "the blueprint for the ultimate heavy metal band." Elsewhere, Osbourne finds himself bewildered by a high-pitched note sung by Halford at the beginning of "The Ripper" ("Fuckin hell! That note is probably just below what only dogs can hear").
