Set The World On Fire features an all new lineup, and one that would
produce just this one album. Joining Jeff Waters, the album features
Aaron Randall on vocals, Neil Goldberg on guitar, Wayne Darley on bass,
and Mike Mangini playing drums on most of the tracks. As Jeff Waters is
often the only common factor between the various Annihilator albums,
it's not that productive trying to compare them. Aaron Randall has good
vocal range, and sings both fast and slow songs well. He has a sense of
melody, but can also bring an edge to his vocals. Waters' guitar tone
can be harsh, but it's softened and more processed on this album, which
tends to complement Randall's voice, and allows it to be more easily
heard particularly on the softer numbers.

Destroy whatever notion of what "progressive" means and replace it
with this. The next step for Power of Omens, already known for their
limb-shattering musicianship as much as the tastefully calculated manner
in which it was used, was to go completely all-out. The result is
almost overwhelming and caused heated division; where to go next would
even puzzle the band members and be a contributing factor in their 2003
split and 2006 disbandment. While it occasionally suffers from musical
overload and burnout and should not be attempted by a new prog fan,
Rooms of Anguish is an effort that must be respected for its attempt to
push the boundaries of musicianship with such success, and the excess is
of the delicious type that always stays with me long after finishing a
prog album.

Axe is a hard rock band from Texas, USA, formed in 1979. The band was
notable for being photographed on their first LP all sporting B. C. Rich
Guitars, one of the first bands to use them exclusively. AXE got to
tour with the likes of the Scorpions, Judas Priest, Ozzy Osbourne and ZZ
Top. The band also played in Britain during 1983 opening for Iron
Maiden.

When U.D.O. released their 2001 concert set Live from Russia, many
Accept tracks that had rarely been performed live received an airing.
But the only problem is that it prevented such '80s metal classics as
"Fast as a Shark" and "Balls to the Wall" from being included. The
problem has now been solved -- thanks to the 2003 follow-up, Nailed to
Metal: The Missing Tracks. Some may assume that this 11-track set is a
rarities compilation due to its title, but not so, as it features live
tracks from the same tour that was documented on Live from Russia. A few
of the tracks actually appear on both releases (namely "Holy," "Raiders
of Beyond," etc.), but for the most part, it's Accept classics that are
featured: "Metal Heart," "Fast as a Shark" (considered by many as the
first ever thrash metal tune), "Restless and Wild," and of course,
"Balls to the Wall." Upon listening to Nailed to Metal, it becomes
instantly apparent that these missing Accept-era tracks would have made
Live from Russia even stronger.

THE LENNY MacDOWELL PROJECT's 1990 album 'Lost Paradise' proved to be
of huge interest to Rock enthusiasts. Although the record saw little
promotion and soon sunk into obscurity, the pedigree of its performers
soon had it on the collectors lists. Produced by none other than electro
wizard Harold Faltermeyer, the album strangely featured no one by the
name 'Lenny MacDowell'. Instead, vocals were attributed to Julian McCall
(real name Lutz Salzwedel and subsequently better known as DAN LUCAS),
DOMINOE frontman Jorg Sieber, URIAH HEEP and ZAO singer JOHN LAWTON,
WISHBONE ASH and TRAPEZE vocalist Merv Spence alongside Maggie Reilly,
Chris Thompson of MANFRED MANN'S EARTH BAND, David Hanselmann from
TRIUMVIRAT and STONEHENGE, Lothar Krell of JOJO and Ina Lippman from
QUEEN OF SPADES.

They are amazing musicians and totally play heavy metal the way it is
supposed to be played. Its not some whimpy 5th grade, school ensemble
that can barely play in tune and in time and has no knowledge of the
music like most of those other CDs. These guys play it, kill it, perform
it, then kill it again. 5 stars all the way on this album. If you are a
fan of the group Apocolyptica, then you know what I'm talking about...
This is like Apocolyptica graduated and created a professional chamber
group that is totally on fire with thrash!

SERPENTCULT are a band who fill me with immense joy and at the same
time a deep feeling of sadness. The Serpentcult of 2012 are a three
piece from Belgium who whilst very talented musicians in my opinion lack
a certain groove to their style. Their last release “Raised by Wolves”
for a lack of a better term bored me and whilst technically a very good
release, it lacked soul, passion and failed to to flare any interest in
my what so ever! This is the source of my Serpentcult related sadness,
as for two years or so this band were the bright shining light on my
musical life, back when they were a four piece and included on vocals
one Michelle Nocon. back in 2007 and it was the release of an EP by the
name of “Trident Nor Fire” that thrilled me so thoroughly and made me
fall in love with Doom all over again

"Just A Little Sign" is a song and single made by the German power
metal band Helloween from their album Rabbit Don't Come Easy. It is
about a depressed man going to a night club intending to enjoy the
music. He then unexpectedly falls in love with a woman there but is too
afraid to tell her. Though this story sounds sad the band delivers it in
a humorous way.

After Wetton's 1991 departure, vocalist/bassist John Payne joined the
band and, together with Downes, enlisted new musicians and led Asia
through to 2006. The first album with this line-up was Aqua, released in
June 1992. In addition to Downes and Payne, the album featured Howe,
Palmer, and guitarist Al Pitrelli (of Danger Danger, Megadeth and Alice
Cooper). Howe returned during the sessions having just left Yes again,
but Palmer would leave soon, committing to an ELP reunion, and was able
to play on just three songs. Session men then completed the drumming.
Downes' environmentalist single "Who Will Stop the Rain?" (originally
written for Max Bacon and the aborted Rain project, later appearing on
Bacon's album From the Banks of the River Irwell) attracted some radio
attention.

The majority of the 11 tracks on Time & Pressure were written in
the comfort of Joey’s own home in Little Rock, Arkansas. Later these
demos were perfected in Nashville at The Sound Kitchen, where the final
touches would be placed on this rhythmically driven record. The first
single, “Good Man”, is a very emotional, therapeutic song; for a debut
song especially. The lyrics come from a place of humility, and help the
listener relate to the band on a more down-to-earth level.

The elements of prog-style are united with a metal-style; powerful
metal riffs, great arpeggios, uses of keyboards, great instrumental
parts… with a style which in part can be similar with metal progressive
groups as ANGRA, QUEENSRYCHE, ELEGY, but with a personal style. Very
particular is the great voice of Andy B. Franck, who is incredible with
the high notes as well on the bass ones, really a good voice, quite
similar to Geoff Tate in the high notes); his way of singing contributes
to create a particular atmospheric, helped by the use of keyboards and
by the arpeggios and solo of Schuler. The line up is essential the same
in all their three albums, but in the last, “Polarized”, the guitar
passes from Schuler to Welsch; Welsch is too a great virtuoso, but
probably this little change in the line-up can be heard by a little
difference of style.
