Sweden's Hardcore Superstar are flashy, tattooed rockers of the old school--the old school teaching that one should attempt to be debauched, deranged and death-defying, endlessly seeking the mythic "good time, all the time". It's no accident that their guitarist is known as Silver Silver (so very close to Sylvain Sylvain from the New York Dolls), or that their "Someone Special" single should have featured a respectful cover of Hanoi Rocks' "Don't You Ever Leave Me". These guys play rock & roll the way trash tradition dictates--hard, fast and loose. Like so many of their peers, Hardcore Superstar bow deeply before heavy metal, coming on like a scrappier Guns N' Roses. Lacking the raw bluesy character and, consequently, the musical variety of the Dolls and Hanoi Rocks, they instead provide a relentless and pretty effective party soundtrack. Bad Sneakers And A Pina Colada is a real glam slam for those who like their gigs and mascara dripping.
