Lord Grey was started by Tony Silva, Geoff Gaboriault and Ben Walburn in the early 90's. They then connected with vocalist Earle Lord and bassist Doug Grey. It was the newest members names that they derived the name"LORD GREY" from. The band began playing small shows and writing songs when Doug decided he had different musical interests and left the band. Earle had connections with a bass player from his home town in New Hampshire, John Giddings. He came for an audition and joined the band immediately. The band then entered the studio and started recording and writing. It was after a few years of playing in Mass, New Hampshire and Maine that John chose to leave Lord Grey and head back home to New Hampshire. Tony had heard of a young bassist in his home town that may be interested named Marc Kolodziej, who was later in SAVANNAH with Tony and Earle. Marc was actually the first bassist they called for the band that was involved in another! project at the time. He passed the audition with flying colors, left his former project, and entered the studio to finish the writing and recording the band had started.
