Novella, lead by Jonathan Pagano who later released two solo albums as simply 'Jonathan,' played melodic hard rock similar to Journey, with analogies to the group augmented by the similarities of Jonathan's vocals to Steve Perry's. Liquid Earth, the band's sophomer release has a generally softer tone than the debut, despite the addition of a second guitarist.
