This is a very unlikely to find album, at least until now. This was a compilation published in various
european and south american countries, always with the same artwork in the sleeve, but with slight
differences in one or two songs depending upon the country where it was released. European edition had
also a cardboard inner sleeve with more details about the groups and songs featured in the album.
This one corresponds to the Venezuelan/Brazilian edition, which was called "HardRock '83" in Brazil,
since it was released at the end of november, 1983, while in Venezuela it was called "HardRock '84" and
was released at middle december, 1983. In most countries it was called as the Brazilian edition and from
the ten country versions I've researched the album, the track list was the same in six of them, which
is the selected here.
Highlights in this album are Black Sabbath (With Ian Gillan, from "Born Again Albun), since it is a
little unklikely to include original Sabbath Songs iv V.A. Compilations (nonetheless, the song selected
form "Born Again" could have been better, and the same goes for the Kiss and Nazareth songs), Dio (And
the VERY rare fact of Dio and Sabbath selected in the same compilation, which add value to this album),
Lita Ford, and the superb "The Devil Made Me Do It", from Golden Earring (Which, while we hardly could
call it "Hard Rock", is undoubtely very sticky and well performed). But, aside from highlights and the
little quirks of the selection of songs, the aftermath results in a very well balanced and listenable
compilation.
