Back in the late 1980's came a sound from the Great North -
Scarborough, to be exact. Banishing the shameful legacy of late 80's
poodles, mullets and spandex they took up the charge for the NWONWOBHM -
New Wave of New Wave of British Heavy Metal, along with the likes of
Skin (the band - RIP), Thunder and the earlier incarnations of the
Wildhearts and Quireboys. They did better than most - a number one album
with Jam and a fair few top 30 singles too, all of which are on here.
Trivial facts - Little Angels built up their following by touring
schools in their early days, and were forced to change the name of their
3rd album from "Spitfire" to "Young Gods", the reason? The Gulf War of
course! Although I dont personally remember many spitfires in 1990.. The
music is top quality, especially the Young gods tracks,
Boneyard/Product of the Working Class/I Aint Gonna Cry. If you care
anything about British Rock buy this, and buy Young Gods too!!

1989 the band are offered a major recording deal, backstage at the
Marquee Club. They sign to Polydor Records and release the Big Bad EP
and their first album, Don’t Prey For Me. At this time they are joined
in the studio and on stage by the Big Bad Horns. The horn section of
Dave Kemp, Grant Kirkhope and Frank Mizen would remain with band for the
following five years.
August 1990 sees the band make their debut
performance on Top Of The Pops as the single She’s A Little Angel
reaches number 21 in the UK singles chart. The band enter the studio to
record their second album at Great Linford in Milton Keynes. The planned
album title of Spitfire is changed to Young Gods as the Gulf War breaks
out. The first single, Boneyard, is banned by Radio 1 in January of
1991. The band take off around Europe supporting ZZ Top on their stadium
tour.

Little Angels was a UK band that delivered melodic rock with plenty of
swagger. While their style was similar to Thunder, and to some extent
the (London) Quireboys, Little Angels seemed to draw inspiration from
the Southern rock sound. They also had a healthy appreciation for
classic rock like the Doors, Janis Joplin, etc.
1991's Young Gods was
the band's second album. It's packed full of barroom rockers that are
guaranteed to get you on your feet. I love the heavy use of a horn
section to add some punch to these already fun songs. Young Gods has
great melodies, great guitar work, bluesy vocals and just a good bunch
of fun rock n' roll songs
