The re-energized German thrash progenitors of Sodom have returned with
an album of absolute mandatory heavy metal. "Final Sign Of Evil"
features re-recordings of the material from their classic first EP, "In
the Sign of Evil", plus seven bonus tracks, all of which were originally
written during the "In the Sign of Evil" era or earlier but were never
officially released.

Code Red was an attempt to reinvent their old material with some of
their newer music, and it was also with a different line-up the band.
Code Red perhaps sounds a bit rehashed but the variety among the songs
is more than great. The album starts hard with berserker thrash tracks
like Code Red and What Hell Can Create, and after that we have slower
but heavier track called Tombstone. Sodom also succeeds to mould some
small Slayer influences in the three upcoming tracks, and by that I mean
both in song appearance and vocal work. Liquidation sounds like a
death-forged song with a sinister yet groovy and catchy riff.

Masquerade In Blood might be one of their more overlooked albums, but
it is not as bad as you thought it would be, because I think that this
album is perhaps one of their heaviest albums but there are of course a
few flaws in this album though. In 1995 Sodom released Masquerade In
Blood, an album which could be a bit comparable with Slayer's God Hates
Us All. This album delivers some of the bands most heaviest material yet
in my opinion, with Tom Angelripper's throaty and harsh raspy vocals,
his mechanical and powerful bass and the songs have rushed and fast
tempos, which makes this album to be quite repetitive but yet forceful
thrash attack.

Sodom is the eleventh album by German thrash metal band Sodom,
released on April 21, 2006. The first pressing was in a slipcase and
includes a full-colour poster of the artwork. "The album is
self-titled," Tom Angelripper explains, "because every band needs a
self-titled album."

Sodom entered Berlin's Musiclab Studios in October of 1987 and layed
down the tracks for their blistering second full length "Persecution
Mania." German thrash was at this time where the speed and heaviness was
at in the pre-death metal era, as Kreator had proved the year before on
their seminal "Pleasure to Kill" opus, which was also cut at Musiclab
and under the direction of the same producer, Harris Johns. So it's
natural that Sodom here recall their countrymen on that record quite a
bit, but that's definitely not a bad thing now is it?

I would say that this album contains a combination of the AWESOME
'Masquerade in Blood' mixed with the OK 'Get What You Deserve.' And even
though 'Get What....' was just OK, don't fear, this album is a lot
better!! Stand out tracks are "Frozen Screams", "No Way Out", "Suicidal
Justice", "Schwerter Zu Pflugscharen", "Sow the Seeds of Discord", &
"Wander in the Valley."

So after SODOM had moved towards a cleaner and decidedly less
Thrashier sound on their last two albums (although both were still quite
good) it was only a matter of time for them to push back towards their
roots. And ''Get What You Deserve'' is exactly that. SODOM returns
towards a Punkier and stripped down version of their music for this
release. But unfortunately, it doesn't pay off as much as they would
have hoped.

ok it might not have riffs as memorable in persecution mania or even
agent orange, but it is a rock solid album and very enjoyable too. all
songs are heavy and kick [butt] and not too many fast ones (actually the
sound is more mature than that in their earlier releases).
