Artist : Lynyrd Skynyrd
Country : USA
Release : Street Survivors [Deluxe Edition]
Year : 1977
Genre : Hard Rock
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

True Skynyrd fans already own this "deluxe edition." For the casual fan, the one who owns the box set or any of the many "greatest hits" compilations, it's worth noting what is actually here.
First, as with all of the "deluxe editions" issued by Universal, the packaging is excellent. Original artwork, nice slipcase, an excellent 24-page booklet with archive photos and pretty much everything you ever wanted to know about "Street Survivors" and the events that preceded and followed its release.
Disc 1, "The Original Album," is just that...the album as it was released in the best possible digital format.
Disc 2, "Criteria Studios Album," is the "other" version...yes, they recorded the album twice. The draw here is the longer, slower version of "That Smell," with no shortage of guitar solos. You've heard "Jacksonville Kid" before (Ronnie's new lyrics added to "Honky Tonk Night Time Man," and the last track he recorded in his lifetime).
The final 5 live tracks from Fresno CA in August 1977 are of historic interest, and the sound quality is basically "acceptable bootleg." It's the Street Survivors band in the early stages of the tour that would never happen. Less than two months later, Ronnie, Steve, Cassie and Dean were gone, and the survivors...real, actual survivors...were changed forever.
Skynyrd fans will, and should, want to add this to their collection. The more casual fan may not appreciate it in the same way. It's an essential 5-star release nonetheless.

Artist : Lynyrd Skynyrd
Country : USA
Release : Pronounced Leh-Nerd Skin-Nerd [Expanded Edition]
Year : 1973
Genre : Hard Rock
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

Lynyrd Skynyrd's 1973 debut is no less than a classic rock album. A classic classic rock album. Eight songs, all of them great. Prime riff-rockers (Gimme Three Steps, I Ain't The One, Simple Man) one of the best rock ballads ever (Tuesday's Gone) and one genuine all-time classic song (Freebird). But the lesser known songs are great too. Things Goin' On, Mississippi Kid and Poison Whiskey are all fine songs. Not a weak spot on the whole album. In an era where great rock albums where everywhere, Pronounced Leh-nerd Skin-nerd stands distinguished. The follow-up, Second Helping, is just as good as this one, if not better. Personally, I have a particular fondness for Pronounced over Second Helping. Both are excellent though, and belong in any hard rock collection.

Artist : Lynyrd Skynyrd
Country : USA
Release : One More From The Road [Deluxe Edition]
Year : 1976
Genre : Hard Rock
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

Lynyrd Skynyrd released four studio albums prior to the release of this record and they were all outstanding. But as good as they were in the studio, Skynyrd really showed their chops on the road. Shortly after the release of their first record they toured as an opening act for The Who and did the unthinkable by actually blowing them off the stage. One More From The Road was released in late '76 and it captures all of their power and fury. For the tour they added guitarist Steve Gaines to the mix of Allen Collins and Garry Rossington bringing back the triple lead guitar attack that made them famous. Bolstered by Artimus Pyle's drumming, Billy Powell's boogie-woogie piano and Leon Wiliknson's steady bass, the band provides the firm backing for frontman Ronnie Van Zant's whiskey-soaked vocals. Standout tracks include the powerful "Workin' For MCA", the furious "Saturday Night Special", "Tuesday Gone", the rollicking "Call Me The Breeze" and of course their two most notable songs, "Sweet Home Alabama" and the flick your lighter on arena rock classic "Free Bird". This is a remastered deluxe edition that has several different live versions of songs.

Artist : Lynyrd Skynyrd
Country : USA
Release : Southern Knights
Year : 1996
Genre : Hard Rock
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

Lynyrd Skynyrd is an American rock band best known for popularizing the southern hard-rock genre during the 1970s. Originally formed in 1966 as the The Pretty Ones in Jacksonville, Florida, they then went through two name changes: The Noble Five and One Percent, before coming up with Lynyrd Skynyrd in 1969. The band rose to worldwide recognition on the basis of its driving live performances and signature tunes "Sweet Home Alabama" and "Free Bird". At the peak of their success, three members died in an airplane crash in 1977, putting an abrupt end to the band's most popular incarnation.

Artist : Lynyrd Skynyrd
Country : USA
Release : Lynyrd Skynyrd 1991
Year : 1991
Genre : Hard Rock
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

This is the first album the band has released since the crash (as Lynyrd Skynyrd). We have on this album original guitarists Garry Rossington, Ed King, and Leon Wilkenson as well as keyboardist Billy Powell and drummer Artimus Pyle from the original Skynyrd, joined by Ronnie's brother Johnny Van Zant on lead vocals and Randall Hall filling in for Allen Collins. When you first listen to this album, if you're expecting Street Survivors or Second Helping, you may be slightly disappointed. But I think you can learn to like this album. It has some really good songs, along with a few average and a few not-so-good songs.

Artist : Lynyrd Skynyrd
Country : USA
Release : Extended Versions: The Encore Collection
Year : 1998
Genre : Hard Rock
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

The CD is a mix of live and studio recorded material, recorded by a "latter day" version of the band. It includes Johnny, not Ronnie, Van Zant on Vocals, and other band members who had survived the plane crash of 20-some years latter. Most of the tracks on the album were recorded around the mid-1990's, and do include some of Skynyrd's best, or atleast amongst their most-recognizable material. This includes "Free Bird", "Sweet Home Alabama", and "What's Your Name". It also incldues other tracks, such as; "O.R.R. and "You Got That Right." Tracks four and five; the fore-mentioned "Sweet Home Alabama" and "Free Bird" were recorded back-to-back at a concert in Pittsburgh, PA.

Artist : Lynyrd Skynyrd
Country : USA
Release : Endangered Species
Year : 1994
Genre : Hard Rock
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

Although the new line-up struggles to live up to the original line-up (regardless of member changes), this album is by far one of the greatest sounds to come from Lynyrd Skynyrd. Getting away from the Arena Rock style of Southern Rock they play so well, this album removes the loud and inserts the calm. The all acoustic album recreates some of the better songs released by the original Lynyrd Skynyrd and brings forth a few new ones as well. Songs like "Sweet Home Alabama" and "Saturday Night Special" sound better arena style, but "Things Goin' On" and "Am I Losin'" sound so much sweeter acoustic. A definite must for true Lynyrd Skynyrd fans, and a recommended album for those interested in what the new line-up has to offer.

Artist : Lynyrd Skynyrd
Country : USA
Release : An All-Star Tribute To Lynyrd Skynyrd
Year : 2007
Genre : Hard Rock
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

If ever a band deserved a tribute, it is what some people refer to as the "real" Lynyrd Skynyrd, the band as it existed prior to the 1977 plane crash that killed three of its members. Some of the performances on this CD are much better than others. There are just enough good ones to make it worth a listen.

Artist : Lynyrd Skynyrd
Country : USA
Release : Collectybles
Year : 2000
Genre : Hard Rock
File Type : mp3 VBR

Info:

Skynyrd Collectybles is a set for the devoted, a collection of rarities from Lynyrd Skynyrd's prime period -- namely, when Ronnie VanZant led the band. The great thing about this is that it doesn't play as something just for the devoted -- it's quite enjoyable for anyone who's a fan of Skynyrd's classic work. This does have some historically significant material, namely the inclusion of the early, pre-Skynyrd "Shade Tree Recordings," cut between 1968 and 1970, and the "Quinvy Recordings" from 1970. There are also outtakes from Second Helping and Street Survivors, and a full album's worth of live material recorded either at the Fox Theater in 1976 or on WMC-FM in 1973. Nothing is particularly revelatory, even the early recording of "Free Bird," but it's all of high quality and anything that adds to classic Skynyrd's body of work is welcome indeed.

Artist : Lynyrd Skynyrd/38 Special
Country : USA
Release : Double Bill: Lynyrd Skynyrd/38 Special
Year : 2002
Genre : Hard Rock
File Type : .avi

Info:

An excellent visual of both 38 Special and Lynrd Skynrd still doing what they do best. Very enjoyable performances of both bands performing their greatest hits live. Of course the band line ups have changed a little, but the songs live on with great music and vocals.
