Artist : Asia
Country : UK
Release : Aqua [Special Edition]
Year : 1992
Genre : Rock
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

This was the first full length studio Asia album with John Payne(replacing John Wetton who left for a solo career) and the first without their original record label Geffen, who had promoted the original band. This album just kinda came out without any major fanfare with a new unknown singer and and on a new indepentant label.

Artist : Asia
Country : UK
Release : Anthology [Special Edition]
Year : 1997
Genre : Rock
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

Asia's "Anthology (Special Edition)' covers primarily 90s Payne & Downes material from Aqua, Aria, Arena along with some re-recordings (5 80s Asia songs and "The Hunter" from GTR), "Reality" (a 1993 archive recording), "Different Worlds" (new recording for original 1997 pressing) and a live acoustic version of "Time Again" from XM Artist Confidental in 2003. Overall, these songs from the 90s studio albums sound more like true prog rock compared to the 80s era albums which have been considered more AOR to many critics.

Artist : Asia
Country : UK
Release : Omega [Japan Edition]
Year : 2010
Genre : Rock
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

"Omega" is the second album since the reformation of the four original members of Asia, and it shows further musical, lyrical and even, spiritual development within the band.
Sonically, what is most noticeable about "Omega" is the presence of John Wetton's bass guitar high in the mix. Along with Carl Palmer's stellar percussion work, Asia's rhythm section provides a driving beat that hasn't been heard to this extent on any previous Asia album. The opening track, "Finger on the Trigger," is a real tour-de-force. Who said 60-year olds can't still rock? Others like "Listen Children," and "Light the Way" rock with a renewed energy.

Artist : Asia
Country : UK
Release : Aurora
Year : 1986
Genre : Rock
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

Asia’s debut album exploded onto the music scene in March 1982 with several Top 10 singles and sales exceeding 7 million copies. This “supergroup”, featuring bassist/vocalist John Wetton, drummer Carl Palmer, keyboardist Geoff Downes, and guitarist Steve Howe, was the logical successor to their collective bands of the 70s – Yes, ELP, King Crimson, and The Buggles.

The group came together in the spring of 1981. John Wetton’s acclaimed progressive rock band UK had collapsed a few years earlier. With the help of manager Brian Lane, he wanted to form a new group with guitarist Steve Howe, best known for his work with British Prog superstars, Yes. Drummer Carl Palmer came into the fold next, having just completed a decade of platinum releases and sold out tours with Emerson, Lake & Palmer. Keyboardist Geoff Downes, who replaced Rick Wakeman in Yes for the Drama album, had previously been half of the pop duo The Buggles. They stormed the charts in 1979 with the timeless classic “Video Killed The Radio Star”.

Release : Asia [Remastered]
Year : 1982
Genre : Rock
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

Speaking of the band...Wetton never sounded better than on Asia's debut. With King Crimson, his voice always sounded hollow and grainy to me. He got better as time went on. Steve Howe's guitar playing was still excellent, and coupled with Geoff Downes on keyboards (who was in the previous Yes line-up with Howe) there are some moments that recall their Drama album from 1980. Carl Palmer on drums sounded excellent as well.

Artist : Asia
Country : UK
Release : Alpha
Year : 1983
Genre : Rock
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

"Alpha" is the second studio album of Asia, released in 1983. It was the final studio album featuring the original lineup until 2008's Phoenix.
"Alpha" is dominated by the songwriting tandem of John Wetton and Geoff Downes. All the tracks on the album are written by Wetton/Downes, except for "The Smile Has Left Your Eyes", by Wetton only. Steve Howe, guitarist and a key songwriting contributor on the debut album, was left out due to reasons not entirely clear.

Artist : Asia
Country : UK
Release : Archiva 1 & 2 [Special Edition]
Year : 1996
Genre : Rock
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

Archiva Vol. 1 is a collection of outtakes and previously unreleased tracks by progressive rock band Asia.
The band had previously completed work on the album Arena in 1995. When they returned to their studio in 1996 they found that a pipe had burst and had ruined thousands of pounds worth of equipment. Despite this a large number of unreleased tracks which had failed to make the previous three albums survived and were quickly considered for a new Asia release.
"I Believe" is not the same track as on the Asia album Omega.
Archiva Vol. 2 is the second part of a collection (see Archiva Vol. 1) of outtakes and previously unreleased tracks by progressive rock band Asia. The song "That Season" was later used on a re-release of Arena.

Artist : Asia
Country : UK
Release : Who Will Stop The Rain?
Year : 1992
Genre : Rock
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

After Wetton's 1991 departure, vocalist/bassist John Payne joined the band and, together with Downes, enlisted new musicians and led Asia through to 2006. The first album with this line-up was Aqua, released in June 1992. In addition to Downes and Payne, the album featured Howe, Palmer, and guitarist Al Pitrelli (of Danger Danger, Megadeth and Alice Cooper). Howe returned during the sessions having just left Yes again, but Palmer would leave soon, committing to an ELP reunion, and was able to play on just three songs. Session men then completed the drumming. Downes' environmentalist single "Who Will Stop the Rain?" (originally written for Max Bacon and the aborted Rain project, later appearing on Bacon's album From the Banks of the River Irwell) attracted some radio attention.
