Saracen came to life in the late 1970, under the name of Lammergier
and was one of the first bands of the so-called New Wave of British
Heavy Metal. In 1980, prior to the release of their first album Heroes,
Saints and Fools (1981), they changed their name to Saracen. This album
still remains a cult classic for fans of heavy metal throughout the
world.

Saracen has been together for 25 years, but some members have come and
gone. Today, the original members Rob Bendelow and Steve Betteny are
joined by the new drummer Mark Cross as well as a new label to back them
up.
Saracen delivers typical English melodic hardrock incorporated
with progressive elements. You can draw musical parallels between
Saracen and acts like Magnum, Marillion, or the really early Judas
Priest.
VOX IN EXCELSO is themed around the best selling book “The Da
Vinci Code” by Dan Brown. Unfortunatley I haven’t got the lyrics so I
can’t really say anything about that. There is a female voice that
carries the story further in between the 12 songs. Even though the album
is quite long at about 70 minutes of playing time, it doesn’t feel that
long because of the much varied material. A few songs could have been
left out but as a whole this is a competent album filled with great
arrangements and songs.
