Artist : Y & T
Country : USA
Release : Yesterday And Today
Year : 1976
Genre : Hard Rock
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

Y&T is one of the great also-rans in hard rock with a career spanning almost forty years. They peaked briefly in the mid `80's but never recaptured their forward momentum and went into decline by the end of the decade. Fronted by guitarist Dave Menniketi who played a sizzling Les Paul guitar and drummer Leonard Haze, the band was rounded out by Philip Kennemore and second guitarist Joey Alves. When their fortunes did start to dive this venerable lineup was carved up eventually leaving only Menniketi. It's too bad because at the beginning of the `80's Y&T was making their best music but unfortunately it didn't translate into sales and headlining gigs outside of their native San Francisco. Still, respect must be given and their debut from late 1976 shows the promise of what could have made Y&T another Van Halen. Self titled under their original moniker, the LP features several quality early metal songs such as future stage favorites "25 Hours a Day" and "Alcohol". "Games Playing Woman" and "Come on Over" are also terrific and "Beautiful Dreamer" closes the set in fine fashion in what would be a Y&T habit; finishing a record with a slow song (not always successfully). Worth searching out for fans of mid-70's hard rock and for fans of the band's 80's stuff.

Year : 1978
Genre : Hard Rock
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

This is a fantastic hard rock CD. Everyone plays their instruments extremely well. The drumming is great! And Dave in my opinion never got his due as a lead guitarist - there is blazing lead guitar on this, as good as most any in the 70's. If you like 70's (or any) guitar driven hard rock, you cannot go wrong with this - it rocks HARD. And Dave sings great also, he's as good a guitar player/singer as Mark Farner or Frank Marino were.

Artist : Y & T
Country : USA
Release : Black Tiger [Japan Edition]
Year : 1982
Genre : Hard Rock
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

"Black tiger" from 1982 is (together with the following "Mean streak") Y&T's finest effort. After an instrumental tune/intro "From the moon" the action really begin, and "Open fire" is a typical up tempo song by Y&T, similar to "Mean streak". The material is rather diverse and there's lighter and melodic tunes like "Don't wanna lose" (a real gem!) as well as fast rockers in the shape of "Black tiger". The bass driven "Barroom boogie" gives the album character and the captivating fan favourite "Forever" gives an example of a classic Y&T formula used on previous as well as following songs.

Year : 1985
Genre : Hard Rock
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

Y&T is just the kind of band that shines live. Their studio albums have always been good, but this live album is fantastic. I had the cassette (yeah, that long ago), then when it wore out I got the CD. People would hear it in my car and then it would "disappear". So I finally replaced it a couple weeks ago in digital format from Amazon. If you are a fan of kick ass hard rock, then you have to add this album to your collection. Not a bad song on it.
