Artist : Girl
Country : UK
Release : My Number: The Anthology
Year : 2001
Genre : Hard Rock
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

Their lead vocalist was Phil Lewis who later sang for L.A. Guns and Phil Collen's who later joined Def Leppard as their lead guitarist. The other members went on to join numerous bands and had constant projects on the go that include making minor record labels to directing major music videos.
Girl, without a doubt are one of the greatest things to ever come out of the UK. I say that from a perspective of someone who loves all forms of rock music. And Girl has a style and a delivery that no one had at the time of the late 70's and 80's. Their music is raw, sleazy and adventurous. They write songs about things that matter (basically hot chicks) and the delivery and fashion that they present their songs in is consistently refreshing. If you like Def Lep, and or L.A Guns you will love Girl. This anthology is full of catchy riffs, solos and vocals to keep you singing along for days on end. If, like me, you listen to a lot of rocking music, you usually come across a band or a song that are good, but you have heard it all before - but Girl don't suffer from this due to their attitude and style that is very prominent in all of their songs

Music groups disband all the time, and Girl broke-up right when they could have become huge. The band cites a variety of reasons for the break-up including poor management, bad A&R, and a lot of drugs, specifically heroin. I find this a little ironic if Phil Lewis was dabbling in heroin and, years later, replaced Paul Black in L.A. Guns because he had a junk problem. Of course, I don’t know any member of Girl personally and wasn’t around, so I don’t know if Phil – or any other member – was really doping. As it stands, several factors contributed to the break-up of Girl right after the release of Wasted Youth. While Girl was no more, Jet Records still had plenty of new material and eventually released Killing Time around 1987.

Info:

Before the glam image became feminine and the songs became "party-with-my-baby-on-a-Saturday-night", there was Girl. Five guys that looked great (think Sweet minus the platforms and crazy clothes) with the musical muscle to back it up. The music fused elements of Bowie with the afore-mentioned Sweet while played in the alleyways of London town. Great glam rock that still holds up today!
