TRACKLIST:

Artist : Dirty Looks
Country : USA
Release : Turn Of The Screw
Year : 1989
Genre : Hard Rock
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

This is Dirty Looks follow up album to Cool From The Wire and was more successfull on the charts than its predecessor. Let me first try to set some things straight about Dirty Looks. Henrik Ostergaard was a lyrical master, noone before nor sense has written songs the way Henrik did and put them together in music making his point and often being humourous in doing it. Not only that but he also played a scorching guitar.
True Henriks vocals were very similar to Bonn Scott and the band itself could sound alot like ACDC when they wanted, but that wasnt what they were about.

TRACKLIST:

Artist : Dirty Looks
Country : USA
Release : The Worst Of Dirty Looks
Year : 2008
Genre : Hard Rock
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

The songs on this CD are basically from their mid-period (One Bad Leg, Chewin On The Bit, etc) with a few live versions of earlier material, and have been remastered well. There is nothing here from the 2007/2008 albums which I did find somewhat peculiar considering the outstanding quality of these discs. The songs blend together nicely as if this was an album rather than a compilation and I would recommend the disc to anyone who is a fan of 70s/80s hard rock and/or Dirty Looks.

TRACKLIST:

Artist : Dirty Looks
Country : USA
Release : Cool From The Wire
Year : 1988
Genre : Hard Rock
File Type : mp3 320

Info:

The first time I heard any tracks off of Dirty Looks’ release, Cool From the Wire, I honestly thought I was hearing new music from AC/DC. Henrik Ostergaard has that whole Bon Scott sound down pretty darn close, and the rhythm section of former Harpo bassist Jack Pyers, drummer Gene Barnett could give AC/DC a run for their money.
This was the first major release featuring lead guitarist, Paul Lidel. Paul came out with his guitar blazing, and quickly shows that he is a very solid player on this disc. Ozzy Osbourne producer Max Norman produced this disc, and the sound is on this disc is fantastic. Cool from the Wire hit #134 on the Bilboard charts, and three singles (Wastin’ my time, Cool From the Wire, and Oh Ruby) were released from this disc. It’s Not the Way You Rock was also on the Johnny Be Good movie soundtrack.

Artist :       Dirty Looks
Country :     USA
Release :     Slave To The Machine [Reissue]
Year :           1996
Genre :       Hard Rock
File Type :   mp3 VBR

Info:

Slave To The Machine is a monster. It's basically the Dirty Looks you remember but more powerfull and a bit less melodic. The album starts off with a really strong tune in "Slave In The Machine" and for the most part the whole first half of the album blows doors. The second half of the album is a bit more hit and miss but still good enough to grow on you and with 13 tracks you can live with a couple mediocre tunes. The final tune "Last Crack" is a standout. The reissues here offers a total of 2 bonus tracks ''It's Gonna Be Alright (Live)'' and ''Let There Be Rock (Live) (AC/DC Cover)''.

2007 saw the return of one of the best sleaze bands ever, Dirty Looks. Hard rock fans will be hard pressed to find more satisfying CDs than Cool From The Wire, Turn Of The Screw or Five Easy Pieces. Those albums represented Dirty Looks at their creative peak, but that was fifteen years ago. So the question is, can these cult legends regain their former glory with Gasoline, or will it be a muddled mess like some of their later release?
The answer to that question is a bit of both. The songs are here, vocalist Henrik Ostergaard sounds the exact same as he did so many years ago, and the production still leaves something to be desired. There really is no excuse for a poor production job in this day and age, as even talentless hacks sitting behind their computer can use programs to make their crap sound somewhat respectable. But if you can get past the substandard production and mix then Gasoline might be exactly what you were looking for from the band.
"Doesn't Count The Juice", "2nd Chance (Didn't Take It)", and "If The World Stopped Spinning" all bring back memories of Dirty Looks' greatness, and the later sounds like it was ripped straight from the Cool From The Wire recording sessions. The only song that is a complete letdown is "Over Me", which is just a mess of sound. Guitarist Paul Lidel is back in the fold and he has always had a knack for recreating AC/DC inspired riffs and also making an appearance is his former Broken Teeth bandmate Jason McMaster.
If you plan on shelling out some cash for this disc, make sure you pick up the Perris Records reissue, because the bonus tracks are two of the better songs here. I'm happy that Dirty Looks is back, as they have always been one of my favorites. I just hope that next time Henrik and company get a producer that can clean up these songs a bit, that alone would have turned Gasoline from a good CD to a great one.

TRACKLIST:

'Loveless' was previously on 'Bootlegs' (same version)

Dirty Looks returns with Superdeluxe; the greasiest rock record to hit the street since the infamous Cool From The Wire and its follow-up Turn of the Screw. Superdeluxe reunites the original line-up of Henrik Ostergaard, vocals/guitar, Paul Lidel, guitar, Jack Pyers, bass, with the addition of Jeremy Hummel on drums. Superdeluxe is full of that vintage Dirty Looks sound to satisfy all the diehard fans and forge ground with a whole new generation. Artist :       Dirty Looks
Country :     USA
Release :     Live In San Diego
Year :           2005
Genre :       Hard Rock
File Type :   mp3 320

Info:

The sound quality on this recording is top-notch and professionally put together. I've heard some of their bootlegs that sound like they were recorded with a tin can and a string. Well, this ain't one of those... The stand-out tracks on this one are "Turn of the screw" and "Nobody rides for free" as this recording breathes new life into those originals and dare I say they sound even better on this disc than what was relased on the Turn of the Screw album. It would be nice to hear some other tracks from that album as they were meant to heard (Go Away, L.A. Anna, etc). More live quality releases like this one would be welcomed indeed.
