Artist : Rainbow
Country : UK
Release : Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow [Remastered]
Year : 1975
Genre : Hard Rock
File Type : mp3 VBR

Info:

Rainbow was formed in 1975 by lead guitar legend Ritchie Blackmore immediately after leaving Deep Purple. He met and struck up a friendship with Ronnie James Dio, who was fronting the bluesy hard rock band Elf. Ritchie was so impressed with Ronnie and the band that he formed Rainbow out of Elf. In other words, when they first began, Rainbow was basically Elf (minus their own lead guitarist, of course) plus Ritchie Blackmore.
Although Elf was basically a bar-room boogie band, both Ritchie and Ronnie envisioned Rainbow to be more of a progressive metal outfit with lyrics concentrating on mystical, medieval, and occult themes. This is why Rainbow's first record has both of these styles represented on it.
It begins with what might be the greatest Rainbow song ever (certainly one of their greatest anyway, as well as one of THE best songs from 1975), a 4 1/2-minute song called "Man On The Silver Mountain." This is the original song that defined Rainbow's music: it starts with a good basic electric guitar riff, then the bass, drums and keyboards join in for support, and when Ronnie James Dio starts to sing, it quickly begins to take shape as the progressive heavy metal song it is. And it has one amazing guitar solo by Ritchie Blackmore!

Artist : Rainbow
Country : UK
Release : Rising [Deluxe Edition]
Year : 1976
Genre : Hard Rock
File Type : mp3 VBR

Info:

This is THE definitive Rainbow record! After the first album, "Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow" was released, Ritchie Blackmore and Ronnie James Dio chucked Dio's former Elf bandmates and replaced them with Tony Carey on keyboards, Jimmy Bain on bass guitar, and Cozy Powell on drums. This lineup fit together perfectly, and brought out the true mystical aura of Rainbow better than any of the other lineups. The front cover couldn't say it any better: Rainbow is powerful, progressive yet rooted in ancient lore, dark and mystical but also full of light and hope. If Rainbow's music on "Rising" could be summed up in a picture, then this would be the visual representation of their music.

Artist : Rainbow
Country : UK
Release : On Stage [Remastered]
Year : 1977
Genre : Hard Rock
File Type : mp3 VBR

Info:

This is a GREAT live album. The sound quality is excellent, Martin Birch is a producing genius. The playing is equally brilliant, and Blackmore tears it to pieces on the guitar. Dio's voice is powerful as usual, and blows me away.

Artist : Rainbow
Country : UK
Release : Long Live Rock 'N' Roll [Remastered]
Year : 1978
Genre : Hard Rock
File Type : mp3 VBR

Info:

This album marks the last of the "classic" Rainbow sound which included medieval, rock and metal styles meshing into a signature Blackmore/Dio led form. This album is also much heavier than the two previous Rainbow studio LP's. Thanks to the re-mastering, the production sounds a little better on this version. Ritchie's guitar playing is stellar on this album, especially the solo to "Gates of Babylon". There are several highlights of the album. "Gates of Babylon" with it's hard driving middle eastern influences mixed with strings for great effect. "The Shed (subtle)", a bruising, stomp-in-your-face metal tune. "Lady of the Lake" is a traditional Dio metal tune and of course, the title track. Also, "Rainbow Eyes" is a beautiful medieval-sounding ballad that showcases Ritchie's diverse songwriting skills as well as Ronnie James Dio's voice. All in all, this is a great album and would be the last truly great Rainbow album due to Dio's departure after the tour to support this album.

Artist :       Rainbow
Country :     UK
Release :     Down To Earth [Deluxe Edition]
Year :           1979
Genre :       Hard Rock
File Type :   mp3 VBR

Info:

DOWN TO EARTH is another great Rainbow Album. Ronnie Dio is gone, but Graham Bonnet is a wonderful replacement. Most of the songs are great, and some of the mystical lyrics have been replaced by more down-to-earth ones. The sound has also been streamlined considerably. The other songs are all great, even though the hit single, "Since You Been Gone", is a Russ Ballard cover. This album got a lot of rough reviews when it came out, quite possibly due to indignation over Ritchie Blackmore's firing of Dio, but it's really a great album that can stand on its own, no matter who's singing lead.

Artist :       Rainbow
Country :     UK
Release :     Difficult To Cure [Remastered]
Year :           1981
Genre :       Hard Rock
File Type :   mp3 VBR

Info:

All the songs are great on this album. It starts off with 'I Surrender', that was a very popular hit and it's a great song. It isn't a rock song, it's a pop song, but that doesn't matter, I also like pop, but when I buy a Rainbow album I expect some rock. Well, the second song (Spotlight Kid) is a great hardrock song! The instrumental part is great! Great guitarsolo and keyboardsolo! The rest of the album is also fantastic. The guitarsolo of 'Midtown Tunnel Vision' is one of the best together with the guitarsolo of 'Spotlight Kid'. The instrumental song 'Difficult To Cure' is a great song to end the album. It is a cover of Beethovens 9th.
