The music of Silent Voices is extremely interesting. In fact, they use to play a nice but dark Progressive Metal that I can compare with a Dream Theater (especially in reason of the numerous keyboards lines) period "Metropolis II". The songs are sometime melancholic some other time a bit more aggressive and fast but it's always varied. It's technical but extremely catchy and it's not a pseudo-intellectual prog, the musicians give their maximum but at the end I never had the feeling that it was "too much", it's just super effective. So yes, it's not something that we can find easily every day so it probably worth a listening, believe me, no doubt it's a really good Prog.

The nice thing about SILENT VOICES is that they quite often also break down into quiet passages, mostly borne by piano and Michael Henneken's very ear-pleasing voice, next to DREAM THEATER-like parts or a real Metal outbreak to loosen things up, altogether a mix that doesn't go into your ears at first listen yet, but really grows on you, if you take a little time and give it some attention instead of just listening to it in the background.

SILENT VOICES was founded in 1995 by guitarist Timo Kauppinen, bassist Pasi Kauppinen, drummer Jukka-Pekka Koivisto and keyboardist Henrik Klingenberg ( who is also the keyboardist in SONATA ARCTICA). Lead vocalist Michael Henneken joined after a couple of years ending a period where the band played instrumental songs. SILENT VOICES released their debut full-length studio album "Chapters of Tragedy" in 2002. Their second full-length studio album "Infernal" followed in June 2004. SILENT VOICES released their third full-length studio album "Building Up The Apathy" in January 2006. In a press release from June 2006 lead vocalist Michael Henneken explained that he had left SILENT VOICES because of musical differences. A new lead singer has not been announced yet but SILENT VOICES are currently working on their fourth full-length studio album.
