Recorded in early 1984, the debut single intended for the self-titled album of W.A.S.P. was close to not being released at all after being dropped from the album. Deemed too controversial, Capitol Records did not want to risk the album being banned from major retail chains.
The record company had subsequent plans to release the single only in Europe, in a black plastic bag and with a warning sticker about the explicit lyrics. Capitol backed out at the last minute and the single was shelved until the band was able to strike a one-off publishing deal with the independent label Music For Nations.
The single was finally released in April 1984, complete with the original sleeve and art depicting a codpiece and a circular saw blade.

Power was founded by guitarist Daniel Dalley (who, somewhat confusingly, released a solo album entitled Power prior to fomring this band), and is notable for the participation of Alan Tecchio, who has contributed to a number of a quality metal bands. Justice Of Fire is a tight power metal album that musically is somewhat in the realm of mid-period King Diamond, with Tecchio turning in a fine vocal performance as one might expect.

An awesome live album with some of Motorhead's more obscure songs and some cool cover songs, two of which (Motorhead & The Watcher) are by Hawkwind (Lemmy's previous band.) My favorite song here is Vibrator. This is possibly the most aggressive hard rock song I've ever heard. Listen to this song on a sound system with a subwoofer and you'll know what the title means! Sadly, the sound quality is not very good.

Remember the Chicago based band D’Molls? Their first two CD’s D’Molls & Warped are harder to find than a Bengals Superbowl ring. If you are one of the lucky folks to have heard their music, or see them perform, you already know how cool this band is.

Long time D’Molls Singer and guitarist Desi Rexx has worked with the fine folks at FNA Records to release D-Sides, a collection of -b-sides, unreleased material & demos, never released before now. Desi has recorded songs with a bunch of famous hard rock musicians over the years. Songs on D-Sides were recorded with Andy Parker (UFO), Chip Z’nuff (Enuff Z’nuff), Bobby Barth(Axe), John Thomas(Lita Ford), Danny Johnson(Alice Cooper), Mick Sweda (Bulletboys & King Kobra) and more. It would have been impossible for him to bring all of these folks back together to record this album properly. With that being said, the audio quality is good on some songs, and lacking on others. Don’t mistake the audio quality for bad songs, as D-Sides has a collection of songs that 80′s rock fans are sure to love.

On the one hand, Jutta Weinhold stood tall in a scene with at the time quite a conservative view of women (at least in Germany Warlock’s Doro Pesch and Holy Moses’ Sabina Classen were about the only female singers). She was as well able to accomplish her vision of lyrical content by conceiving the story of Zed Yago and transfer it into a musical masterpiece. On the other hand, the interior struggle which lead to the band’s split and it’s following legal struggles still remain the most painful experiences of her entire Life.
Although throughout the years guitar sounds became more and more heavy, Jutta was fed up with heavy music after the split of Zed Yago’s successor Velvet Viper. She retrieved from hitting the stage to start a dedicated work for aspiring young musicians by giving vocal lessons at different music schools.

Jutta Weinhold is one of the best female Metal singers in the world, the only one that can proudly stand next to Doro Pesh. Just think that she began her career in the 70's with the musicals Hair and Jesus Christ Superstar.
During her music-related life, the singer from Northern Germany has experienced both highs and lows. Especially Zed Yago, the band that made Jutta quite famous in the Metal scene, got her to know the difference between light and shadow. In 2004, Jutta came back with the acclaimed From Heaven Through The World To Hell, and with Below The Line she proves once again that's she capable of creating a timeless album, which manages to be the balancing act between sophistication on one side and great melodies on the other.
Below The Line is one of the most varied albums of the last years, from blues over Heavy and up to the sound of Metal, Weinhold combines the singer's best experience of 30 years of hard music in a very tasteful manner.

Independence Day is a who's who of vocal A-listers. Highlights for me are "Doubting Thomas" (featuring John Corabi), "Monkey Dance" (featuring Jack Russell of Great White, who has never sounded better), "Phoenix" (featuring Pete Loren of Trixter), "Praying For A Miracle" (featuring Ted Poley of Danger Danger) and "Fade" (featuring Jaime Rowe of Guardian) to name a few (and there is still a number of honorable mentions). "Wake The Dead" however, is not so good, but hey opinions are like taste buds, everyone has them. The band is nothing to sneeze at either featuring seasoned veterans like Jerry Dixon, Kevin Chalfant, Tommy Denander, Jack Frost and on and on... If Liberty N' Justice can do this acoustically, I can't wait to hear what they can do all amped up.

A grandiose Hard Rock project conceived by ex PLASMATICS / DISCIPLES OF SOUL bassist JEAN BEAUVOIR, VOODOO X brought together American and German musicians in a group based both in Berlin and New York.
BEAUVOIR and guitarist TOMMY LAFFERTY had previously worked together on a projected post PLASMATICS solo album from BEAUVOIR. At least VOODOO X got as far as releasing an album, which included the track ‘A Lover Like You’, co-written by PAUL STANLEY (KISS) and JEAN BEAUVOIR. BEAUVOIR had previously written material with STANLEY for use by KISS. Breaking up the group, BEAUVOIR and LAFFERTY returned to the States. BEAUVOIR relocated to Los Angeles where he would form CROWN OF THORNS with ex SHALAMAR guitarist MICKI FREE and erstwhile CHIC and POWERSTATION drummer TONY THOMPSON. Despite a few false starts, CROWN OF THORNS would manage to achieve a firm following worldwide even without the backing of a major label.

Back in the 80?s, for every successful hard rock and hair metal act, there were at least ten more that didn’t make it big. Tonight You Rock from Santa Cruz, California is one such act, and one that hair metal fans should take note of .
If you are fan of the era of big guitar riffs, and bigger vocals, you ought to give this latest a Retrospect Records Release a look. “All Comes Down To You” takes me back to the 80?s era of hard rock when music was fun, and exciting.
“Are You Lonely” is easily the best song in the lot. This guitar work by Greg Michaels smokes on this tune. TYR covers the Elvis Presley classic, “Heartbreak Hotel”. I like their version of this song, it doesn’t really stand up to the original, but they didn’t try to replicate the song either.
