Artist : Hydra Vein Country : UK Release : Rather Death Than False Of Faith/After The Dream Year : 2007 Genre : Heavy Metal File Type : mp3 320 Info:
HYDRA VEIN were a truly intense (at times bordering on both early
black and death metal) thrashed-out speed metal group from the UK. They
released two LP's, 1988's "Rather Death Than False Of Faith" and 89's
"After The Dream". Long forgotten by many, HYDRA VEIN has long been
considered one of those "lost greats" by fanatical fans of all early
extreme metal pioneers. Hopefully this brilliant CD does much to expose
HYDRA VEIN to a new generation of thrashers, so they can receive some of
the credit they so brutally deserve. Musically, HYDRA VEIN was similar
in sound to groups like MORBID SAINT (US), DEATHWISH (UK), MINOTAUR,
POISON, ASSASSIN, and DARKNESS all from Germany, MORTUARY (Mexico), NUM
SKULL (US), BLESSED DEATH (US), and at times a whole bunch of late-80's
South American groups like DEATH YELL, PENTAGRAM, ATOMIC AGGRESSOR,
MUTILATOR, etc.

double LP released from WEA label back in the glorious days of rock and
pop. Includes artists from the 80s Rock, Funk / Soul, Pop scene. Please
note that this was never released on CD. I have personally collected
all the tracks and put them together from CD rips. To make the recording
and effort more interesting I have replaced a few tracks with rare
remixes or extended versions plus I added a 1987 track that I really
like listening to...
Hope that old-time music lovers will enjoy this one.

Artist : Pantera Country : USA Release : I Am The Night Year : 1985 Genre : Heavy Metal File Type : mp3 320 Info:
Just about every metal fan knows the name Pantera. The Texas-based
band was a huge metal presence in the `90s. In a decade when metal's
popularity was in decline, the heavy, thrashing Pantera became almost a
household name. What's less well-known is that the band had been active
since the early `80s, recording a series of albums in the glam/hair
metal style before releasing their 1990 breakthrough Cowboys From Hell.
Originally
released in 1985, I Am the Night was the band's third album. It's still
by and large a hair metal album, but you can hear the band moving into
thrashier territory. In particular, the guitar riffs are noticeably
faster and the rhythms are heavier. The band still sounds a lot like
Britny Fox here, thanks in large part to Terry Glaze's raspy vocals and
the songwriting style, which tends to focus on rock anthems and yes the
occasional sappy ballad. It's a hair metal album with some killer guitar
work, but a hair metal album nonetheless. Standout tracks are the
rocking "I Am the Night," "Onward We Rock" and the very metal
"Valhalla." Like all the early Pantera albums, I Am the Night has some
very cheesy, very amateur cover artwork.

Against A Darkened Sky, the groups fall of 2008 Retroactive full
length debut, brings a traditional classic power metal sound certain to
appeal to fans of Sacred Warrior, Recon, Jacobs Dream (David Taylor
era), Fates Warning, old Queensryche, Crimson Glory and Iron Maiden.
Those whose musical tastes trend towards classic metal – think Saint and
Judas Priest – should find a lot to like in Faith Factor as well. The
band best exhibits its technical songwriting skills on the resonant “In
God’s Shadow”, intricate “Armor Of God” (time changes galore in this
one), Recon-ish “Divine Temptation” and the all out progressiveness of
the eleven minute “Ascend Unto Heaven”. A more melodic based direction
is taken on “The Rapture” while “Keep It True” proves a Christian metal
anthem and “Light Replaces Darkness” an upbeat piece with a catchy
chorus hook. Rounding things out is the majestic power ballad “In
Remembrance”.
